Phone 526-7589 Jazz choir sings at Knox anniversary Majestic Wi tours Doi! Museum Knox United Church was beauti­ fully decorated for the Anniversary Service with Rev. Dave Snihur conducting the service. Special music was by the “Jazz Vox’’ of Goderich conducted by Eleanor Robinson with students of GDC1, Erin Robinson, Maureen Stapleton, Robin Wark. Wayne Mac Vicar, Craig Wark and Lori Millian. The Call to Worship was read alternately followed by hymn, “I Serve a Risen Saviour’ ’ followed by Prayer of Approach, announce­ ments followed. Thechildren’s song was “Halle- lu, Hallelu” followed by the children’s story, being the conclu­ sion of the past two Sunday's story. Knox UCW sees flower demonstration Unit II of Auburn United Church held their October meeting at the home of Mrs. Greg Park with Mrs. Jack Vincent as assisting conven­ or. A flower arranging demonstra­ tion was presented by Mrs. D. Cameron of Dixie’s Flower Shop, Goderich. She made a hand-tied bouquet of fresh flowers and a table arrangement giving many helpful hints and answering ques­ tions. Leader Mrs. Vincent conducted the business and reports received and shut in visits arranged. New Devotional books have been placed in the library for members use. The Autumn Thankoffering will be held on October 28 with a speaker from Goderich. “Grati­ tude, and the rarity of its use’’ was the worship theme. Scripture readings relating to “Thanks” were read by various members. People The Auburn euchre party will start on Tuesday, October 27 at 8 p.m. at the Community Hall. Everybody is welcome. We would like to thank everyone who made our grand opening a great success. Sincerely Scriptures were read followed by the prayer chorus. The anthem was sung by “Jazz Vox”. The minister’s sermon was entitled “Looking to the Past, Living in the Present, Looking to the Future’’. The offering was received by Peter Verbeek, Allan Webster, Laurence Plaetzer and Murray Rollison followed by the offeratory response. The hymn “All The Way my Saviour leads me” was sung. The minister pronounced the Benedic­ tion with a choral closing by Jazz Vox. Next Sunday will be early hymnsing at 9:50 a.m. Autumn Thankoffering will be held on October 28 with a special speaker from Goderich. Two piano duets were played by Mrs. Greg Park and Mrs. John Wilson of Fordwich. The hymn, “Come Ye Thankful People Come” wassungwith Marjorie McDougall at the piano. A Helen Steiner Rice - Prayer poem * ‘Thank You God” concluded the worship, worship. WMS gives thanks The Presbyterian Women’s Missionary Society met at the home of Mrs. MarthaDaerfor their Thanksgiving Service. Martha, the president, presided and opened the meeting with a scripture reading. The order of service was followed from the Glad Tidings including hymns, scrip­ ture readings and prayers. The study was in charge of Mrs. Frances Clark who gave an infor­ mative reading on Thanksgiving. Marion Haggitt gave a reading entitled “Autumn Is Here”. The meeting closed with all repeating the Lord’s Prayer. The November meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. Viola Raithby. A trip to the Gingerbread Doll Museum at Wroxeter was very much enjoyed by the Majestic Women’s Institute members for their October meeting. It was a spectacular sight to behold, 1900 dolls in one room - every kind you could imagine. After returning from the tour, a business session was conducted at the Brussels library with the president, Mrs. Kathy Bridge, presiding. It was decided to donate $100 to the musical instrument fund at the Brussels Public School, as well as $20 to the Ladies’ Division of the Agricultural Socie­ ty, andadonationof$10forthe November 11th Memorial Day. The first W. I. euchre party of the season will be held on Monday, Oct. 26 at 8 p.m. in the library with Mrs. Isabel Adams, Mrs. Leona Connelly, Mrs. Jeanne Carpentier and Mrs. Alice Brothers in charge. The cookbooks are here and may be purchased from any W.I. member for $5.00. At the Huron County Rally, Mrs. Peggy Keffer was the recipient of a lovely tray for completing 24 courses in the 4-H Club. An invitation was read from the Brussels, Morris and Grey Indus­ trial Committee to a promotion dinner planned for Nov. 18 at the Community Centre. The 4-H Achievement Night will be held at the B.M. & G Community Centre on Nov. 19 at 7:30 p.m. On November 23 there will be a Seminar on the new handbooks at Fordwich at 10a.m. with a pot luck lunch. Mrs. Isabel Adams read the motto“Hewhotillsthesoiland turns the heavy sod is privileged to be in partnership with God” which was prepared by Mrs. Kate Wilson. This gave members a lot to think about. On Friday, the Majestic Women’s Institute held a very successful bazaar with lots of baking, deli goodies, produce and penny auction. Ross Clark wins at OMAF open house To celebrate Agri-Food Week, the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture and Food at the Clinton office held a special open house time on Tuesday, October 6from 11:30- 1:30 p.m. Door prizes, balloons, buttons and treats were available through­ out the week. Winners of the food and wine baskets were Diane Peckitt, Seaforth and five year old Ross Clark from Blyth.
