The partners purchased the company from Robbie and Carole Lawrie earlier this summer and have now set up a large retail outlet as well as their decorating business. There is an excellent variety of clothes for all ages. There is also a good choice for those looking for a Halloween costume. One of the highlights this week is the “Silent Auction”, a chance for people to do some early Christmas Shopping. The ever-popular bazaar begins at 2 p.m. on Saturday, with an excellent variety of bazaar items - baking, crafts, Christmas, attic treasures, plants and the Puff & Cup Booth and refreshment tables. A brand new U.C.W. cookbook will be on sale for the frist time at the Bazaar. People Twelve tables were in play at Blyth Memorial Hall for euchre Monday night. High scores went to Ruth Shields and Ruth Dougherty (playing as a man). Ester Moffet and Millar Richmond were low scorers. Most lone hands winners are Rena Watt and Cliff Hoegy. The special prize was won by Olive Neal of Clinton. Last Wednesday evening the first Lost Heir card party was held in Memorial Hall with seven tables in play. High prize went to Nora Kelly andHarvey Sillib. Low prizes were won by Millar Richmond and Society meets The Blyth Horticultural Society meeting on October 13 in the Blyth Memorial Hall was well attended. A brief business meeting and discussion of bulb planting and fall clean up was held. Mary Walden gave an interest­ ing report on the Ontario Horticul­ ture Association convention held at Queen’s University, Kingston on June 16-18 which she and Lloyd attended as delegates of the Society. About 900 registered for this event. The theme was “Blow your horn for horticulture”. Donald Kai of Wingham was guest for the evening, showing pictures and commenting on the different countries he and his wife Margaret toured during their trip to Europe. A team of dart players from the Blyth Legion Ladies Auxiliary brought home the trophy from the zone dart tournament in Goderich on the weekend. While in Ottawa, she visited with her sister Mrs. Kathleen Meldrum. She reports that the autumn leaves were extremely colourful this year.
