Sympathy is extended to Rita You ngblut and family and relatives on the death of Major Youngblut who passed away at St. Joseph’s Hospital London on Wednesday, September 16 in his 84th year. Mrs. Tom Haggitt, Mrs. Robert Peck, Mrs. Viola Raithby, Mrs. Lily Leatherland, Mrs. Jim Giousher and Marjorie McDougall enjoyed a day bus trip through the Bruce Peninsula to the Evergreen Resort at Red Bay Ontario. Mrs. Ruth Jardin visited on Tuesday with Miss Norma Coutts of Wingham. Sunday guests with Bob and Shelley Worsell, Graham and 'Autumn' theme Marjorie McDougall entertain­ ed Unit 2 of Auburn United Church Women for the September meet­ ing. She was assisted by Mrs. Bud Chamney. This first fall meeting opened with a reading “Autumn Is Here’’ and the hymn “Come Ye Thankful People Come’’. For the study excerpts were read from an address presented by the modera­ tor of the United Church Rev. Anne Squires at Alma College Rally, which Marjorie McDougall attend­ ed. The theme was “How should we live as faithful Christians in such a Children hear story at church The Knox United Church service was conducted by Rev. Dave Snihur and Mrs. Gordon Gross was organist. Baptism took place and Charlotte Elizabeth Worsell, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Worsell, and Brett Andrew Bean, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dana Bean were baptized. Former area mail carrier, MAJORROBERTON YOUNGBLUT Major Roberton Youngblut of Goderich and formerly of Auburn, died in St. Joseph’s Hospital, London on Wednesday, Sept. 16, 1987 following a short illness. He was 83 years of age. He was born in Hullett township and received his education there. For many years he and his wife, the former Reta Harrison Dodds, farmed on their farm on County Road 25 west of Blyth and he served as a mail courier. He was a member of Auburn United Church, the Loyal Orange Lodge No. 963 at Blyth and the Blyth Masonic Lodge 303. He is survived, besides his wife, bv 13 children: Keith, of Timmins’; Ross, RR I, Auburn; Patricia, Mrs. Alan Rush. Waterloo; Stewart, Charlotte and Dorothy Grange following Charlotte’s baptism at Knox United Church were Mr. and Mrs. Bert Worsell, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Worsell and Dylan of God­ erich. Jennifer Grange of Toronto, Dr. and Mrs. Rd Singh. Kristin, Kecia and Kara, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Morris, Monique, Matthewand Meagan, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Lawson, Mr. and Mrs. Doug Lawson, all of London, Eileen Brown of Detroit and Frank Pentland of Dungannon. Mr. Harold Baechler returned home from St. Joseph’s Hospital, London last week following eye surgery. He is wished a speedy recovery. The Fall Rally is September 28 at Ashfield. Members are asked to donate books suitable for Camp Menestung Library. A miscellan­ eous sale was held and the convenors served a lunch for a social hour. The children’s amusing story was “Timothy the Turtle” . The hymn, “Hove to tell the Story” was sung. The scripture reading was given by the minister. A prayer chorus was sung. The minister’s sermon was entitled, “The Uniqueness of Jesus.” The offering was received by Ken Ramsey and Murray Rollinson Hymn, “Jesus Saves” was sung. The minister pronounced the Benediction and the service closed with the Congregational Benedic­ tion “Lord We Pray.” farmer, dies Brampton; Lynn, Brampton; Lyle, Blyth; Helen, Mrs. Don Smith, Moncton; Bruce, Cobourg; Betty, Toronto; Murray, Bramalea; Mar­ jorie Canton, Corunna; Marion, Mrs. Sam Warren, London; Mar­ garet, Mrs. Richard Bellefeuille, Waterloo. Eighteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild also survive. He was predeceased by his first wife, the former Jeanetta Mc­ Nabb. The funeral service was held Sept. 19. 1987 from the Tasker Funeral Home in Blyth with Rev. David Snihur officiating. Burial was in Blyth Union Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Edgar Daer, Gordon Gross, Louis Daer, Ken Giousher, Keith Good and Gordon Plunkett. Flowerbear­ ers were grandchildren. The monthly meeting of the Auburn Women’s Institute was held on Tuesday, September 15 at the Community Hall. The topic was Agriculture and Canadian Industries. The meeting opened with the Ode, Mary Stewart Collect, andOCanada. The president, Mrs. Len Archam­ bault opened themeetingwi th a poem and welcomed all.
