Mr. Riddell’s supporters cele brated their victory at a party at the Goderich Township Hall in Holmesville Thursday night. Mr. Riddell said he was especially proud to have worked in such a hard-fought campaign with such a hard-working group of campaign workers. He promised to serve the northern part of the county in the same way the voters have come to expect from him in the south of the riding and had been expected from such members as Murray Gaunt and Murray Elston in the north. He said he had been runningjust as hard in this campaign as he had in 1973 when he ran for the first time and was elected in a by-elec tion. He paid tribute to Mr. Peters and Mr. Kloppforthechallenge they had presented and wished them all the best for the future. He thanked his wife Anita and his family, saying this was the sixth election he had fought and they had helped him through time and again. He pledged that now that the election was over there were no Liberals or Conservatives but he would be representing people of Huron regardless of their political stripe. Nico Peters congratulates Jack Riddell after the incumbent ran up more than 60 per cent of the votes cast in Huron riding in Thursday’s election. A victory party was held in Holmesville for Liberal party workers. IMPORTANT CHANGESTOTHE ONTARIO FARM TAX REBATE PROGRAM. MORRIS TWP. The rebate for a farmer’s municipal taxes increases from 60 to 100 per cent The municipal tax rebate applies to all farmlands and outbuildings. Rebates will no longer apply to the farm residence and the surrounding one acre of land. In addition, farmers will not be required, as they have in the past to prepay their municipal taxes before applying for the rebate. Farm propei'ties will not be reassessed unless changes to the property that would normally require assessment are made. Applications for the rebate are being sent by mail; they must be sub mitted by December 31,1988 for rebates on the 1987 period.
