Talkin ’ horses, a group of farmers were entranced by the huge array of ceramic teams made by Ken Martin of Dresden on display at the Blyth Thresher Reunion over the weekend. Mr. Martin has been invited to take his horses and hand-made implements to a major show in Detroit later this month. Farm Jack Cardiff, Joe Semple top corn competition Cows higher, pigs steady at Brussels Brussels area farmer Jack Card­ iff has topped the grain corn division of the field crop competi­ tion for the Brussels Fall Fair with a total score of 95 points, while Joe Semple of RR 1, Ethel achieved the same score towin the ensilage corn division. Field crops were judged as standing crops by Gordon Patter­ son of Ripley, but all prize winners must exhibit one half bushel of grain corn or six stalks of ensilage corn at the Brussels Fair, Septem­ ber 22-23 to qualify for prize money. Eating disorders profiled The eating disorders of anorexia and bulimia will be profiled at the annual meeting of the Huron-Perth Centres for Children and Youth to be held in Clinton next week. Guest speaker will be D. K. Berg, a clinical psychologist at the University of Western Ontario who also maintains a private practice in London. Dr. Berg is widely known as a specialist in the research and treatment of eating disorders. The meeting begins at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 23, at the Clinton Town Hall. The public is welcome to attend. The market at Brussels Stock- yards Friday was very active with steers and heifers selling at fully steady prices. Cows sold higher, pigs were steady. There were 830 cattle, 677 pigs and 81 sheep and lambs on offer. Choice steers sold from $89 to $93 with sales to $96 per hundred­ weight. Good steers were $86 to $89. A Charlois steer consigned by Geo. Underwood Farms of RR 1, Wingham weighing 1280 lbs. sold for $96 with their total offering of 45 steers averaging 1220 lbs. selling for an overall price of $91.25. A steer consigned by Murray Shiell of RR 3, Wingham weighing 1160 lbs. sold for $94.25 with his total offering of 16 steers averaging 1150lbs. sellingforan overall price of $90.68. A steer consigned by Frank Dolmage of RR 1, Seaforth weighing 1100 lbs. sold for $93.75 with his total lot of eight steers averaging 1113 lbs. selling for an average price of $91.59. Choice exotic heifers sold from $88 to $92 with sales to $93. Good heifers were $84 to $89.
