Wroxeter, will appear in a God­ erich Court on January 19, where he will go on trial as a result of charges of wilful neglect of an animal, laid against him last February by the Kitchener-Water- loo Humane Society, after the organization seized a mule as it was about to be sold to a meat packer. Good heifers were $86 to $89. A heifer consigned by George Blake of RR 2. Brussels weighing 1120 lbs. sold for $94 with his total offering of 22 heifers averaging 1081 lbs. and selling for an average price of $88.75. A heifer consigned by Bob Hulley of RR 1, Blyth weighing 1030 lbs. sold for $93. A heifer consigned by Dwayne Pryce of RR 1. Seaforth, weighing 1030 lbs.. sold for $90.50. Three heifers consigned by Jim Milliner of RR 1, Dundalk, averaging 907 lbs. sold for $94. Choice cows were $58 to $63. Good cows were $55 to $58. Canners and cutters were $48 to $55. Thirty to 40 lb. pigs traded to a high of $ 1.19 per lb. 40 to50 lb. pigs traded to a high of $1.12 per lb. 50 to 60 lb. pigs traded to a high of .98 cents per lb. 60 to 70 lb. pigs traded to a high of .98 cents per lb. 70 to 80 lb. pigs traded to a high of .95 cents per lb. Another sheep, lamb and veal sale will be held on Friday, Sept. 11 For further information please phone 887-6461. 1 he case aroused a storm of controversy after the Society claimed that Mr. Van Ankum had failed to provide adequate care for the 10-year-old animal that had been a family pet. More than 30 people across Ontario offered to adopt the mule, and a storm of protest sprang up from individuals and farm groups who leapt to the defense of Mr. Van Ankum, reiterating his reputation as a model farmer and an excellent caretaker of his award-winning herd of cattle. At the request of his lawyer, the case of Ernest John Nolan of RR 4, Seaforth, was also transferred to Goderich Court, where he was ordered to appear September 1 on a number of charges arising from a rash of break-ins to parked cars in the Brussels area last March. Mr. Nolan faces one count of theft over $1,000, four counts of theft under $1,000, and three counts of possession of stolen property. Robert Wayne Toal of RR 1, Bluevale appeared before Judge Hunter to plead guilty to a charge of impaired driving, laid after he was stopped by Ontario Provincial Police in Turnberry Township last April. He was fined $500, and his driver’s licence was ordered sus­ pended for three months. Judge Hunter also ordered that an outstanding warrant for the arrest of Terry Powell be contin­ ued, after the Auburn man failed to appear in court for the third time since last May. Mr. Powell faces charges laid last April on one count of public mischief and one count of personating with intent to mislead a police officer. A warrant with discretion was also issued for John Martin Carmichael of RR 1, Belgrave, after he failed to appear in court on a charge of aggravated assault, A laid in Wingham on August 7. •A trial date of December 23 was set lor Robert Walker of Walton, who will plead notguilty toacharge of rendering property useless, laid following an incident in the hamlet on June 15.
