Despite nearly freezing to death in the early morning air on August 25, all four swimmers who tried out for
their Bronze Cross lifesaving award at the Brussels, Morris and Grey Community Pool passed the test,
administered by Paul Van Zant of Atwood, right. Above, Shaun Jacklin and Donald Hastings have just
completed a “rescue” with victims Laurie Willie and Rob Veitch; in the next step, “rescuers” and
“victims” changed places. Lessons at the pool ended August 21, while the facility closes for the season
tomorrow [Thursday].
