Lessons at the pool ended August 21, while the facility closes for the season tomorrow [Thursday]. Heather Wilson honoured Approximately 75 friends, rela­ tives and former neighbours at­ tended a miscellaneous bridal shower for Heather Wilson in the Brussels Public Library on Tues­ day, August 25. Each man draws for his partner for the afternoon and for the second year in a row Jack Bowman drew his sister Mary Yuill and they won the trophy again. It is also thought that they are the oldest members of the Club. Congratulations Jack and Mary. The program began with Eliza­ beth (Exel) Gascho singing a number ‘‘Perhaps Love” with Donelda Stiles accompanying her. A contest was enjoyed when Heather was excused from the room and the guests were asked questions about Heather’s attire. Donelda Stiles then played a piano solo ‘‘Blue Velvet”, and Joanne King accompanied her daughter Karla on the piano, while Karla sang a solo and also played the clarinet. A recipe for a ‘‘Happy Marri­ age” was read by Donelda Stiles and a memorable address was read by Joanne King. Heather was presented with lovely gifts and she gave a fitting reply. The celebration wasaquietonebut more than 60 family members and friends had earlier attended a get-together in celebration of their anniversary. Don and Susan McNeil and family, Dave and Karen Hastings and family all of Brussels, John Williamson of Walton visited with Jim and Bonnie Bradley of Burling­ ton for a small family reunion. Other members of the family who were present were: Mac Baeker, Shari Baeker and Guy, Bob and Barb Coleman and family. Susan, Karen and Barb later visited Beth Baeker in Joseph Brant Hospital where she was recovering from a very severe broken leg. Karen and Dave and Krista Hastings then travelled to Memphis, Tennessee to visit Graceland then spent the rest of their holidays at Pine Lake Camp at Bayfield. A very pleasant day was spent on Grandisland N.Y. lastTuesday when Mrs. Lillian Moses, Mrs. Leola Hood and Mrs. Mildred Jacklin, accompanied by Mrs. Ada Thornton of Kitchener travelled there via Maxey Travel. A deli­ cious lunch and buffet dinner as well as numerous stage shows, a high diving quartet and the midway on Fantasy Island were all included. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Thornton returned to Kitchener after spending three days with the Jacklins. Brussels Meals on Wheels will deliver meals starting September 8.
