Following the wedding cere mony a reception was held at the Brussels, Morris and Grey Com munity Centre in Brussels. The couple will reside in Brussels. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Watson of Brussels Proposals for home support service reviewed Last Monday marked the dead line for submissions from provid ers of home support services seeking a mandate to supply such services to Huron County clients, with proposals expected from Wingham’s publicly-funded Town and Country Homemakers, as well as from two privately-owned Lond on companies, Quality Care Nurs ing Services Ltd. and Para-Med Health Services. Town and Country Homemakers is the only organization providing such a service within the county at the present time, but Betty Cardno, a member of the three- man independent committee which will review the proposals, said that competition is always welcome as it provides an enhanc ed range of community care alternatives for those needing such services. Mrs. Cardno, executive director of the Huron County Health Unit’s Home Care Program, the largest purchaser of Town and Country’s services, was to meet with commit tee chairman Grant Stirling, reeve ofGoderichTownship, and with Bill Morley of Usborne Township, provincial representative of the Huron County Board of Health, to review the proposals on August 10. Mrs. Cardno says that the committee will carefully consider all proposals before making a recommendation to the Huron County Board of Health on August 19. Ifapprovedatthatlevel, the recommendation would probably be forwarded to the September 2 meeting of Huron County Council for ratification, Mrs. Cardno said. When the matter of inviting submissions for service was brought up at county council in July, Exeter reeve Bill Mickle and deputy-reeve Lossy Fuller object ed to what they perceived as a duplication of services, along with the idea of inviting private firms to compete with the publicly-funded Town and Country Homemakers. However, County Warden Brian McBurney, who is also the chair man of the county Board of Health, said that there is a growing demand for home care services within the county, and that all proposals should be considered. He added that it was irrelevant whether the service provider was publicly or privately funded, as all Huron County residents who re quired the service would be granted a subsidy if one were needed.
