The Citizen, 1987-08-05, Page 20PAGE 20. THE CITIZEN, WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 5, 1987 i w S The final event of the week-long “Kid’s Corner’’ Vacation Bible School held at the Brussels Mennonite Fellowship Hall last week was a Peace Parade around several village streets, culminating in the planting of a “Peace Tree” at the street corner. Above, Lesley Elliott [planting the tree] was one of the 79 Brussels and area children who took part in the activities, under the supervision of Director Wendy Martin. Frank Stretton new manager Continued from page 18 adding that he does not expect any problem in recruiting the 20 - 23 players needed for the team, because Brussels is known far and wide as having an excellent reputation in training anddevelop- ing its players. “Our basic strategy will remain the same as it has always been - thatis, we willgive every kid on the team a good chance to play and develop his own strengths.” Mr. Stretton says that a schedul ing meeting has been planned for August 24, while the Junior D season will begin on approximately October 10. The Brussels Bulls defeated the Exeter Hawks to win the northern divisional Junior D title four games to one last March, but lost the semi-final series to the Lucan Irish in mid-April, after an excellent season of play.
