Phone 526-7589 People around Auburn Sympathy is extended to Mrs. Ross Andrews and family and to Mrs. Ross Daer and family on the death of their father Ben Brown who passed away in St. Joseph’s Hospital. London in his 71st year. Recent visitors with Mrs. Fran­ ces Clark were Mrs. Jean Hughes and Mrs. Evelyn Errington of Lucknow and Misses Jean Houston and Jean Jamieson of Toronto. Mr. and Mrs. Len Deveau of Auburn. Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Deveau of Elliott Lake returned home from a trip to Nova Scotia visiting their family there. Mr. Jack Young of Mitchell visited w ith Laura Phillips and Ellen Johnston on Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. Stan McNail of Welland are visiting Laura Phillips and Ellen Johnston for two weeks. Prior to arriving here, they were honoured guests of the Prime Minister and the Honourable Michael Wils on and his wife at a dinner reception for their high­ nesses Duke and Duchess of York at the Royal York Hotel in Toronto. The “Black Tie" affair was attended by 500couples represent­ ing the Canadian business, social, political and cultural communities. Mr. and Mrs. Gary Shuttleworth Aaron and Vanessa moved to Sheffield Ontario recently. William Anderson of Newmark­ et visited his parents Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Anderson on the weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Stewart Toll of London visited on Wendesday with his sister Marjorie McDougall. Sorry to report that Mrs. Elva Straughan is a patient in Clinton Pub I ic Hospital. We wish her a speedy recovery. We welcome to Auburn Mr. and Mrs. Bill Parkinson and family. They are residents of the United Church Manse. Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Gross, Anita. Bryan and April and Marjorie McDougall attended the Scott-Cope wedding last Saturday which took place at Hyde Park United Church. The reception followed at Grosvener Gates, London. Mrs. Viola Hallam and son Roy of Lucknow called on Mr. and Mrs. Tom Hallam Sunday evening. The 128th annual Agricultural Fair at Dungannon will get under­ way a day early this year, as organizers have planned a Child­ ren's Pet Parade to take place on the evening of Friday, August 14, the day before the more traditional fair events get underway on Saturday, August 15. Formerly, pets, poultry and goats were judged and shown on the Saturday of the Fair, but this year all are to be entered in the Friday night Pet Parade. A total of 22classeswillbejudged,witha prize for first and second place in each class, but every child who shows a pet will receive a gift just for participating. All pets must be suitably caged or leashed. All pre-schoolers and elemen­ tary kids may enter the parade, which will begin at 7 p.m., at Dungannon Agricultural Park. The classes in the Pet Parade are: 1. Largest dog 2. Smallest 3. Best costumed dog, 4. Largest cat, 5. Most appealing kitten, 6. Best costumed cat/kitten, 7. Best solid coloured rabbit, 8. Best spotted rabbit, 9. Best goat, 10. Best lamb, 11. Best poultry, 12. Best pet bird, 13. Most unusual pet (other than those listed above), 14. Petwith longest ears, 15. Pet with longest whiskers, 16. Pet with smoothest covering, 17. Pet with biggest feet, 18. Pet with longest tail, 19. Pet with shortest tail, 20. Most colour­ ful pet, 21. Best costumed pet (other than dog or cat). 22. Best trained pet (must perform a trick).
