The meeting was called by township council for the purpose of discussing a township-owned nec tar plantation at Lot 13, Concession 2, on land adjacent to the Hullett Wildlife Reserve, but Hullett township clerk-treasurer Harry Lear said Monday he was unable to release any information pertaining to the meeting prior to its taking place. The plantation consists of part of a 100-acre farm formerly owned by the Ministry of Natural Resources and planted locusts and other flowering trees for bee-keeping experiments conducted by the University of Guelph a number of years ago, according to Russell Fear of RR2, Wingham, an apiarist who now keeps a large number of hives on the property. The property was traded to Hullett Township at the time that the MNR requested the closure of several roads in the area to accommodate the planned flood ing of the wildlife reserve during the 1970’s, and has been owned by the township ever since. Mr. Fear said that he had been notified of the meeting, but had no idea what it was about. Bill Ferguson of Ferguson Apiaries near Zurich, president of the Ontario Beekeepers Association, could not be reached Monday for comment. 1 SCRIMGEOUR’S KNECHTEL FOOD MARKET - BLYTH Values in Effect Until Closing Sat., Aug. 8, 1987.
