FALL/SPRING EVENTS
THE NATIONAL TAP DANCE COMPANY OF CANADA:
The story of tap dance from classical styles to contemporary
is told in “Fascinating Rhythms” the latest production by
this famous company. The music of Gershwin, Bach and
Oscar Peterson is used and the choreographer is
world-famous Brian Macdonald who directed Cabaret at this
year’s Stratford Festival.
Saturday, Sept. 26, 8 p.m.
MURRA YMcLA UGHLAN: His career over the last 15 years
has covered styles from folk to rock to country as he
established himself as one of Canada’s most popular
writer/performers. It’s his first visit to Blyth.
Saturday, Oct. 17, 8:30 p.m.
McCLURE: Robert McClure was a true Canadian hero,
serving as a medical missionary to China and later becoming
moderator of the United Church of Canada. Munroe Scott
originated this moving chronicle of the accomplishments of a
great humanitarian at Theatre Aquarius in Hamilton and the
one-man show is now touring.
Saturday, Nov. 14, 2 p.m. and 8 p.m.
KITCHENER-WATERLOO CHAMBER ENSEMBLE: A
previous visit of this small symphony orchestra was so
successful the group is returning. Drawn from the members
of the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony, the members will
perform music by Mozart, Bach, Haydn, or Wagner.
Sunday, April 24, 1988, 2 p.m.
PRICES: Individual tickets for the events are $10.50 each.
Savings are available through two packages. A maxi-pack-
age of all four events is available for $28. A mini-package for
two events is $17.
CHILDRENS EVENTS
Children’s events are geared for children 5 to 11 years of
age.
OLIVER BUTTON IS A SISSY: This show by the National
Tap Dance Company has been a hit across the country for
several years. Hermione Gingold narrates (on tape) the story
of Oliver Button from the well-known children’s book by
Tomi Matola about a boy who loves to dance. The story is set
to original music.
Saturday, Sept. 26, 2 p.m.
MERMAID THEATRE: This popular Nova Scotia puppet
theatre returns to Blyth with “The Red Ball”. The show has
outstanding visual effects using a combination of black light
and curtain light techniques. The puppets are made from
everyday objects and Canadian folk songs are used.
Saturday, Oct. 17, 2 p.m.
MORGAN'S JOURNEY: Robert Morgan brings the
production he created with another Blyth-regular David
Craig to the Festival Stage. It’s a magical play about a
journey of discovery by Morgan the clown. The play was
runner up as best children’s play in the 1986 Chalmers
Award competition.
Saturday, Nov. 21, 2 p.m.
PRICES: Individual tickets are available at $4.50 each. A
package for all three events is only $10.50. For information or
