Looking cool despite wearing a balaclava, this hooded character visited the Blyth Festival’s Country Fair to take pot shots at stage manager Hilary Blackmore in the dunk tank. Later the stranger, who sounded suspiciously like actor Peter Smith took a chance to cool off by sitting in the dunk tank himself. Festival's Country Fair raises $1400 for building The building fund of the Blyth Festival is $1,400 richer after another successful Country Fair on the lawn of Blyth Memorial Hall on Saturday. Marian Doucette, Festival President, said the biggest money maker at the annual fair was the dunk tank where people paid $1 each for thrccchancestodunka favourite member of the Festival company. As well, the used clothing table brought in over $200 as did the souvenir sales area. The “cake-walk” brought in $194. Ms. Doucette said the income from the event was average or a little above average, especially considering that the crowd seemed to be down a bit this year. The presence of so many activities for children seemed to add to the festive atmosphere, she said. Convenor for the project is board member Carrie Salisbury. Happy both Birthday Grandpa It was bicycle decorating day at the Blyth playground program on Thursday as all participants decorated their bikes for the day. Lome and Addie Hunking’s family was in charge of games. The oldest man and lady present were brother and sister Irvine Wallace and Charlotte Bell. The youngest child present was Sara Pruss; closest birthday was Corrie Wallace; closest anniversary was Mark and Laurel Mitchell; newest married couple was Dan and Brenda Tyndall; person coming the farthest was Marion Wallace, Lloydminster, Alberta. Guessing the number of paper clips correctly was Tara Hunking and the correct number of pennies was Mark Wallace. Kick the slipper was won by: children - Greg Rutledge; ladies - Sandy Brander; men’s - Boris Wallace. Water balloon winners were Laurel Mitchell and Tom Duizer. Races were won by: age 4 and under Dean Pruss; eight and under, Bradley Hunking; 12 and under, Greg Rutledge.
