anything."
Mr. Mooney said that he and his
wife then called their family
physician in Guelph, who advised
them to bring Clinton to the
emergency department at the
Guelph hospital immediately.
However, Listowel Hospital
administrator James Van Camp
said that sufficient care had been
given to the child at the Listowel
Hospital, which had subsequently
notified both the Huron and Perth
County Health Units, and that the
Huron Health Unit had dispensed
the anti-rabies vaccine to the
family’s physician.
Unlike previous anti-rabies
shots which were given daily into
the stomach, Dr. J. K. McGregor,
acting medical officer of health for
Huron County, said injections are
now intra-muscular. Two initial
shots are given, followed by three
more several days apart. He said
that Clinton’s last injection will be
given in about a month, adding that
Mrs. Mooney required no treat
ment following the incident.
