Blyth businessman dies GEORGE CLARENCE HAMM George Clarence Hamm of Blyth died suddenly at his home on July 6,1987 after a short illness. He was 75 years of age. He was the founder of Hamm’s garage, a business later taken over by his sons. He was a member of Blyth United Church. He married the former Sarah (Sadie) Gillespie who predeceased him in 1985. Surviving are three sons, George Jr., Kenneth and Murray, all of Blyth, one sister, Pearl Crawford of Blyth and one brother, Norman of Sundridge. A private family service was held at the Tasker Funeral Home in Blyth on July 9 with Rev. Lorenzo Ramirez of Blyth United Church conducting the service. Interment was in Blyth Union Cemetery. Former Ethel resident dies at Callander OLIVE JOHANNA CHRISTINA DUNBAR Olive Johanna Christina Dunbar formerly of Ethel, died on July 4, 1987 at the Callander Nursing Home, Brussels. She was 94 years of age. She was the wife of the late George Andrew Dunbar, who predeceased her in 1975. She is survived by one son, Donald Dunbar of Ethel and one daughter, Georgia, Mrs. Bill Schaefer of Goderich. She was predeceased by one son, David Armour and by three sisters and four brothers. Jack Steele dies in Stratford JOSEPH [JACK] STEEL Stratford died on Friday, July 10, Joseph (Jack) Steele, age 51, of 1987 at his residence in Stratford. Brusseis-area woman dies in Li stow ei KATHE BURGHARDT Mrs. Mathias (Kathe) Burg­ hardt, of RR 3, Brussels, died on July 7 at the Lis towel Memorial Hospital. She was 66. She is survived by her husband, Mathias Burghardt; one daughter, Ruth and her husband Irwin Weidner, of Oshawa; two sons, Fred and his wife Beth, of Syracuse, NY, John and his wife Anne, of Kitchener; and two grandchildren. The former Kathe Weber was predeceased by her parents, Thelt Frederich Weber and the former Kathe Gutwein (Cootvine); and one brother, Frederich. The late Mrs. Burghardt rested at the J.A. Peebles and Sons Funeral Home until Thursday, when the funeral service was conducted. Interment was in the Elma Centre Cemetery. He was born in Scotland and was the son of Anne (Thompson) Steele of Scotland and the late John Steele. Surviving is his wife the former Helen Knight, two sons Paul and David and seven broth- ers-in-law, Jim, Jack, Leslie, and Willis of Brussels, Murray of Cambridge, Harold of Toronto and Ken of Exeter. Friends were received at the Heinbuck Funeral Home, 156 Albert St., Stratford where the funeral service was held on Monday, July 13,1987 at 2 p.m. Doctor David Thompson and Rev. Ken Knight officiated. Interment followed in Avondale Cemetery, Stratford. She is survived by four grand­ children: David and Becky Dunbar and Susan and Paul Schaefer. The funeral service was held July 7 from the Brussels Chapel of the M. L. Watts Funeral Homes. Interment was in Brussels ceme­ tery.
