BMG committee wants meeting with councils A meeting of the municipal councils of Brussels, Morris and Grey will be sought this fall to iron out problems that have arisen in the funding of the Brussels, Morris and Grey Recreation Committee, Councillor Elizabeth Graber, Brus sels council ’ s representative on the committee told her council Mon day night. Councillor Graber explained that the recreation committee wants to get the councils together to solve the problem of funding for the committee which is in its second year of operation. The committee was originally to be funded by grants of $8,000 from Brussels, $7,000 from Grey and $4,000 from Morris. This year, however, faced with an additional levy from the Blyth and District Community Centre because of replacement of a brine chiller earlier this year, Morris cut back its grant to $3,000. “We need to know in advance what money’s coming in,” Councillor Graber said. The recreation committee under new planning had budgeted to put money in reserve funds for poss ible future repairs at the BMG Community Centre. Now those funds aren’t there. Councillor Gordon Workman said Morris got a big break on the initial agreement having to pay so little. “They broke that contract the minute they didn’t come through with another $4,000” he said. Councillor Graber said that was the reason the committee wanted to get all the councils together this fall before budgets were set for 1988 so it could know what it can count on for the coming year. Brussels council had originally been assessed $10,000 for 1987 by the recreation committee but had cut back its allotment because of extra costs involved in supplying sewers to the BMG.
