Phone 887-9487 Decoration Day held at Brandon cemetery DONNA JEAN HIGGINS Donna Jean Higgins of RR 5, Brussels graduated June 27 from the Dental Assistant Program, Georgian College, Orillia. She is the daughter of Ross and Wilma Higgins and is employed at the Trillium Dental Clinic, Waterloo. The annual Decoration Memor­ ial Service was held Sunday, July 5 at 3 p.m. in Brandon Cemetery with a good attendance. Knox Presbyterian Church was in charge of the service and Rev. Victor Jamieson of Brussels gave the message on “Our Hope is the Risen Lord Jesus”. Mrs. George Procter accompanied on the accor- dian for the hymns. 'School is out' party held GWEN ELIZABETH KNOTT Gwen Elizabeth Knott, daugh­ ter of Gerald and Anna Vander- Heyden, RR 3, Blyth, graduated on June 18, 1987 from Fanshawe College of Applied Arts and Technology, London, with a diploma in Business and Finance and is presently employed at the Ministry of Natural Resources London* Ontario. Jeremy Campbell, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Campbell, had a “School is Out” party at his home, June 24. Attending were some of his classmates from the village: Mi­ chelle Pletch, Sharon Cook, Allie Culbert, Kendra Folkard, Julie Snow, Ryan Cook, Luke Lockridge, Jamie McCallum, Michael Marks, David Piluke and Jeremy’s brother Justin. The children had lunch and enjoyed games and sports outside. Justin Campbell, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Campbell, celebrated his fourth birthday June 28. Celebrating with him for supper were his great-grandparents, Jamesand Alma Prance and his grandmother Irene Desjardine of Grand Bend and his grandmother Olive Campbell of Belgrave. Friends attending the birthday party were Tania Pletch, Carleigh Galbraith, Harmony Spivey, Mat­ thew Snow, Travis Campbell, Justin’s brother Jeremy and Adam Potter whose birthdays fell on the same day. Following the party and barbecue, games and sports were held. Neighbours and friends of this community wish toextend sym­ pathy to Ian, Ralph and Lome Scott in the loss of their mother Mrs. Mae Scott who passed away at her home in East Wawanosh Township Saturday, July 4. Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Vincent and Carrie-Anne of Milton visited on Sunday, July 5 with his parents Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Vincent. Carrie-Anne remained for her summer holidays. Miss Michelle Arruda of Fergus is spending a few weeks with her grandmother, Mrs. Dorothy Lo­ gan. Mrs. Elizabeth Procter visited with Mr. and Mrs. Howard Zettler, Sherri, twins Amanda and Alicia of RR4, Walkerton for a few days last week. Mr. Raymond Petrie and friend Sheep dub holds meeting BY JENNIFER PROCTER The fifth meeting of the Huron County Sheep Club was held July 4 at 10 a.m. at Dianne and Darlene Black’s home opening with the 4-H pledge. After members decided when to have the next meeting they were told how to cope with any problems at lambing time. After the meeting adjourned, juice and squares were served by the hostess and the Black’s were thanked for hosting the meeting. of Herkimer, New York visited with Mrs. Elizabeth Procter on Sunday. Mrs. Laura Johnston and Mrs. Robert Grasby visited on the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. George Johnston and family of Ilderton. Mr. and Mrs. George Carter of Wingham have recently purchased and moved into the former home of the late Mrs. Dorothy Procter. Residents of Belgrave welcome George and Winnie to the village. Vincent Makas, acocmpanied by his sister Mrs. Bob Smith of Sudbury and his mother Mrs. Olive Makas of London spent June 28 weekend with Mrs. Mabel Wheel­ er. Danny Thompson of London, who recently finished his Interior Decorating and Drafting course at Fanshawe College, visited Wed­ nesday, July 1 with his grandpar­ ents Mr. and Mrs. Bert Johnston. Glen Van Camp was able to return to his home on Thursday after being a patient in Clinton Public Hospital. Clarence Hanna is a patient in the Wingham and District Hospi­ tal. He expects to get home soon. Westfield area resident dies VIOLET MAY SCOTT Violet May Scott of Westfield, East Wawanosh township, died July 4,1987 at her home after a short illness. She was 76 years of age. She was born in East Wawanosh township and was the wife of the late William John Borden Scott. She was a member of Belgrave United Church. She is survived by three sons: Ian, Ralph and Lorne, all at home. The funeral service was held July 6, 1987 at the Tasker Funeral Home Blyth. Rev. John Roberts conducted the service. Burial was in Brandon Cemetery, Belgrave.
