People Vera Badley had a pleasant surprise on June 21 at her son Larry and Myrtle Badley’s when, instead ofthepromised hot dog supper, she was greeted by friends, relatives and co-workers waiting to celebrate her 70th birthday. Those present were Larry, Myrtle, Jason and Melissa Badley, RR 2, Blyth; Reg. Diane, Rob, Jeff and Tanya Badley, Brodhagen; Harv, Pat, Karen and Kevin Bernard, RR 3, Walton; Mrs. Clara Riley, Londes- boro; Mrs. Elizabeth Medd, Clin­ ton; Miss Jean Leiper, RR 1, Londesboro; Mrs. Daisy Gilfillan, Clinton; Mrs. Betts Verwey, Au­ burn; Mrs. Mattie McGregor, Clinton; Mrs. Audrey Walsh, Clinton; Mrs. Beth Knox, Londes­ boro; Mrs. Lenora Davidson, Blyth; Mrs. Marion Wright, Blyth; Mrs. Mae Badley, Blyth; Richard Badley, Blyth and Cathy Smith, Ethel; Shirley and Earl Fyfe, Blyth and Sharon Whitfield, London. After opening gifts and cards, a pleasant afternoon was spent rehashing old times and catching up on the latest news. To complete a perfect day a smorgasbord supper was served topped by a beautiful birthday cake. SWIMN1NG CLASS REGISTRATION Blyth minister honoured Members of all ages represent­ ing all organizations of Blyth United Church filled the church’s lower hall on the night of June 14 to pay tribute to Rev. Ken Bauman, his wife Joanne Bauman and Heather and Craig who have taken gratitude for gifts received and also the many kindnesses shown to them during their stay in this locality. They affirmed they will return when or if time allows to call on friends and neighbours no matter up residence in St. Thomas where Rev. Ken becomes minister of Grace United Church. They have served in Blyth for the last four years. Dick Poore, M.C. spoke of Rev. Bauman’s consistent positive atti­ tude in dealing with church matters, young people, and the delivery of sermons. David Webster, chairman of the Official Board, spoke of other fine leadership qualities. He was cer­ tain worshippers appreciated greatly announcements in the bulletin of each Sunday’s Scriptur­ al passages to be dealt with the following Sunday which enabled everyone to prepare for easy assimilation of the Spiritual food provided at the 11 o ’ clock service or the 9:45 a.m. dialogue session. Appreciation time saw gifts presented to Heather by the choir; to Heather and Craig by the Sunday School where they served as teachers; to Joanne Bauman by the U.C.W. and to Rev. Ken Bauman whose tremendous ener­ gy, musical, dramatical, and crea­ tive talents helped to make his ministry so meaningful. The Baumans sitting before their friends chatted freely with them after expressing sincere to what religious denomination they belong. The Baumans will be remembered for their support of theecumenical movement very clearly, by the way, explained in a recent publication of the United Church Observer. KIM CRAIG Kim Craig, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bodie Craig, RR 2, Blyth, graduated June 6 from the Faculty of Education, University of Wes­ tern Ontario. She received a Bachelor of Education degree and was on the Dean’s Honour List. Miss Craig has accepted a position at Mitchell District High School.
