LINDA BLAKE
Linda Blake, daughter of John and
Irene Blake of RR 2, Brussels
graduated May 15 from McMaster
University In Hamilton with her
Bachelor of Science in Nursing
degree at the 265th Convocation
ceremony at Hamilton Place. Linda
is a graduate of Grey Central Public
School and Seaforth District High
School. She has accepted a position
in the Intensive Care Unit of
McMaster University Medical
Centre in Hamilton.

Each year the Ministry of
Natural Resources sponsors a
poster contest throughout Ontario
in order to help increase awareness
about forest fire prevention.
This year, Forest Fire Preven
tion Week was held April 19 to 25.
This year, Sandra Walsh, a grade 2
student at Blyth Public School was
the regional winner in her class
grouping. Sandra received a
plaque from Smokey the Bear at a
presentation ceremony held June
18 at Blyth Public School. Bill Black
also received a plaque for the
school from Smokey the Bear and
Kim deVries from the Ministry of
Keystone

Couple weds at Blyth
Rev. Kenneth Bauman offici
ated at Blyth United Church on
June 13, 1987 for the ceremony
uniting Shelley Y. Patterson and
Keith A. Howatt in marriage.
The bride, currently living in
Calgary, Alberta, is the daughter
of Kenneth Patterson and Mrs.
Gwen Papple, both of Blyth. The
groom, also living in Calgary, is the
son of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon
Howatt, RR 1, Auburn.
Maid ofhonourfor her sister was
Barbara Patterson of Blyth.
Bridesmaids were Sharon Whit
field, friend of the bride, of
London; Sherri Howson, cousin of
the bride, of Blyth and Darla
Colquhoun, friend of the bride, of
Calgary.
Jim Bellingham of Calgary,
friend of the groom, was the best
man and the groomsmen were
Kevin Howatt, London, brother of
the groom; Kent Howatt, RR 1,
Auburn, brother of the groom and
Mike Bishop, Calgary, friend of the
groom.
Organist was Margaret Kai of
Wingham and soloist was Karen
Bruinsma of Goderich.
Following the ceremony, a
reception was held at the Blyth and
District Community Centre.

Ontario customers used 9.3
billion kilowatt-hours of electricity
in April, down 1.4 per cent from the
year before. Peak demand for the
monthwasreached April 2 at 18
million kilowatts, up 6.2 per cent
from the same month in 1986.
