PAGE 3. Students win poster prizes On June 21, Betty Kelly didn’t realize that a surprise party awaited her at the home of Gisile and Peter next door, to celebrate her 65th birthday. They had a wagon all decorated and riding on it all the grandchild­ ren, some of the families and neighbours. After opening of gifts and cards the afternoon was spent playing ball and visiting. A barbecue with strawberry shortcake, ice cream and birthday cake decorated for the occasion was enjoyed. Blyth Festival had a colouring contest to colour special versions of the Festival 1987 poster and winners were named at the awards assembly at Blyth Public School Wednesday. First prize in the kindergarten division went to Mary Beth Brigham. Honourable mentions went to Allan Gibbons, Charlene Tisseur and Jenny Shropshire. People Mrs. Jean Love of Headington, Oxford, England is visiting with her aunt Mrs. Winnifred Vincent and cousins, Amy and Ralph McCrea for a few weeks. Con and Lois van Vliet and family are enjoying the visit of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gerrit van Vliet who are here from the Netherlands for one month. Jim and Effie McCall have returned from an extensive trip which included Vancouver Island and down to Newfoundland, cour­ tesy of Air Canada. They reported a fantastic and very enjoyable holi­ day. Bill Buchanan of Brussels and Kay Buchanan of Clin­ ton, wish to announce the forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Susan Cook to Ernie Dale, son of Les and Shirley Dale of Blyth. The wedding will take place on Friday, July 17th at 7p.m. Blyth United Church. Open reception to follow at Blyth Community Centre. Chris Bromley and Jennifer Brigham, shared the top prize for thegrade l-31evel. Honourable mention went to Wanda Emke, Jill Walden, Skye Lantinga, Leanne Bell, Wes Wilson and Heidi Dale.
