People Compiled by Marilyn Higgins The Brussels Optimist Club held a very successful ball tournament June5,6, and7 with Woodstock winning the championship over Harriston 13-0 and Palmerston winning consolation over Goderich 22 - 7. They were also busy Saturday, June 13 painting the bleachers at the ball park, helping to get ready for thell5thHome- coming. Did you ever think a rock could look so beautiful? Take a drive up William St. E. and see the large rock with shrubs and flowers around it. Mr. and Mrs. Don Edgar of RR 1, Alienford, Ashley and Ryan David of Shallow Lake visited with Mrs. Winnifred Edgar and Mr. and Mrs. Alvie Higgins on Saturday. Sympathy is extended to the family of the late Russ Hall. We would like to welcome John and Julie Harrison and family who have moved to our village from Thunder Bay. John is the son of Mrs. Joan Wiessler and will be joining the staff at the Golden Lantern. Karen Alexander of Singapore has been visiting with her parents Pat and George Alexander, at the present time she is visiting in the West and will return home to her parents on June 22 and then leave for Singapore on June 23. It took Karen 30 hours flight time to reach Toronto. Any former schoolmates and friends are welcome to drop in and see her on June 22. Visitors on the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Jack Higgins and Ken were Mr. and Mrs. John Oliver of RR 1, Clifford, Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Lamont and Michael BRUCE STANLEY ARMSTRONG Bruce Stanley Armstrong, son of Jim and Leona Armstrong received his Diploma in Education [Techno­ logical Studies] at the recent graduation ceremonies at The University of Western Ontario. Bruce is currently supply teaching at the Wallaceburg District Secon­ dary School and has accepted a full time teaching position in the fall at Bracebridge and Muskoka Lakes High School, Bracebridge, On­ tario. 75t& tfa, 24t7t of Walkerton and Miss Dale McFaralan of Wingham. Meals on Wheels participants can watch Brussels Meals on Wheels in action on June 24 at 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. on Channel 17. Jim, Leona and Leanne Arm­ strong and Sandra Orth attended the graduation ceremonies of Bruce Armstrong at Western University on Saturday, June 6. Mrs. Glenna Stephens was in London a few days this week attending the graduation of two of her grandchildren from University of Western Ontario. Audrey Isabel Stephens, Bachelor of Music, (Honours Program) and George Russell Stephens, Faculty of Social Science, honours program, An­ thropology major. They are the children of Dr. Russell G. and Dr. Ruth Stephens of London. VictoriaStreet United Church, Goderich Open Reception at Saltford spent the weekend in Windsor where they attended Cleary Audi­ torium, Wi'idsor, for the Gradua­ tion of Donelda Jean Stiles, B.M.A. when she received her Bachelor of Musical Arts Degree from the School of Music, Univer­ sity of Windsor on June 15, and in the evening at a Graduation Tea held at Donelda’s home in Strat­ ford. Mr. and Mrs. James Kinkead of Goderich were at the school on June 7 to renew old acquaintances. Mr. Kinkead was a former school inspector for this area for many years. Mary Huether had him while in P.S. and as an inspector when she was teaching. Everyone enjoyed seeing him again and he being able to call people by name.
