Londesboro to get street numbers
It will soon be easier for a
stranger to track down a given
address within the village of
Londesboro, with the erection of
street signs and the assigning of
numbers to buildings and lots
throughout the village by the end of
the summer.
Woodmans Lane in Londesboro to
Trueman Street, eliminating the
confusion of having two names for
different parts of the same street.
Plans for the re-construction of
two blocks of Elizabeth Street and
of the southern blocks of both
Sarah and Silver Street were
accepted from the engineering
firm of Burns, Ross & Associates,
tenders will be invited for the
excavation and application of a
granular base of these streets.
A public meeting has been
planned as part of the regular
council meeting on June 16, at
which Londesboro residents affec
ted by the street construction may
discuss the matter with their
elected officials. The council meet
ing begins at 7:30p.m., but Mr.
Lear suggests that interested
parties call him for the time the
public meeting on the agenda will
be heard.

At the regular meeting on June
2, Hullett Township Council pass
ed by-laws which will permit the
completion of both projects, which
clerk-treasurer Harry Lear says
will be started as soon as possible,
following the various formalities
involved.
At the same meeting, a by-law
was passed to change the name of
McKillop plan goes to press
McKillop township residents
will shortly be getting a copy of the
draft zoning by-law for the town
ship after township council passed
a motion, J une 2, to have the Huron
County Planning and Develop
ment Department prepare the
by-law for printing and circulation.
Residents will have a chance to
have their questions and concerns
answered by council at a public
meeting scheduled for August 19
and 20.
In other business, council pass
ed a by-law authorizing an increase
in the rates paid to its animal
control officer.

yds. of pit run “B’’ gravel and
11,000 cu. yds. of “A” gravel.
Total price for the gravel was
$84,200.
A new municipal insurance
program fromthe Rural Ontario
Municipal Association (ROMA)
will save the township nearly
$l,500in insurance costs this year.
Council voted to accept the ROMA
proposal, excluding environmen
tal liability coverage) at a cost of
SI0,124 over a policy of $11,508
from Frank Cowan Company Limi

Three building permits, with an
estimated value of $71,000 were
approved. The road accounts of
$130,555.97 and general accounts
of $320,867.38 were approved for
payment.
William Siemon reported to
council he had inspected the
Higgerson-Ryan Municipal Drain
on the property of Harry Arts after
Mr. Arts had said he was not
satisfied with the amount of
excavated material left on the ditch
bank. Mr. Arts had requested the
ditch back be re-graded. Mr.
Siemon reported that the work had
been completed according to the
report.
Council accepted the 1986 finan
cial statement from the Blyth and
District Fire Area Board. The
statement of revenue and expendi
ture of the Seaforth Area Fire
Department was reviewed by
council.
A special by-law was passed to
amend the council’s procedural
by-law and allow for the holding of
the council J uly meeting on June 30
instead of the regular July 7 date.
