Walton I Unit had the devotions with Marie McGavin and Olene Dennis taking part. Communica­ tions Co-ordinator Edith Wey was assisted by Marjory Fraser in the Duff's Sunday School picnic held Balloons and streamers decor­ ated the basementof Duff’s United Church for the Sunday School Picnic. Game’s got underway with a front crawl for four years and under. Winners were: Darrell Houston, Darrell McClure and Trish McClure. In the second round winners were Trish McClure, Darrell Mc­ Clure and Darrell Houston. Everyone joined in the relays. In the over and under relays winners were Glenda Carter’s team, Emer­ son Mitchell’s team and Lorianne McClure’s team. Carrot relay winners were Nita McClure’s team, Lorianne Mc­ Clure’s team and Glenda Carter’s team. In the “dress-up” relay fastest dressers were Lorianne McClure’s team, Emmerson Mitchell’s team and Glenda Carter’s team. Winnersintheshoe scramble were: Lisa Gingerich, Susan Carter and Lorianne McClure. Those keeping dry in the balloon toss were Cindy McCallum and Shann­ on Craig and Andrea Gingerich and Lorianne McClure. The picnic concluded with a pot luck lunch enjoyed by everyone. Rev. There will be no meetings for the summer months. Meetings begin again September 2. The monthly meeting of the Walton Area Sports was held June 1 in the library. In the business it was discussed that the rest of the painting and other pack repairs should be done as soon as possible. Since President Dave Gamble is leaving at the end of the month, the new president will be Betty McCallum. Paul Mercer was nom­ inated to fill the position of vice-president. New members that were accepted were Evelyn Blake and JoAnne McDonald. It was decided to have a planning night on June 15 to prepare an entry for the 115th Homecoming celebrating parade in Brussels Saturday, July 4. The date set for the 13th annual Squirt Tournament is to be August 21-22. The next meeting will be held July 6. On Saturday, June 6a successful pitching clinic was held at the park for both boys and girls. The Mite and Squirt pitchers and their catchers were in the morning while the PeeWee and Bantams finished the afternoon session. There were 45 pitchers signed up with Doug Neil, Wingham their instructor for the day. THE CITIZEN, WEDNESDAY, JUNE 10, 1987. PAGE 13. Shall we dance? Actually a squirt ballplayer from a local team is learning the right hip swivel for effective pitching, as demonstrated by expert instructor Doug Neil of Wingham. 45 boys and girls of all ages took part in the Pitching Clinic, sponsored by the Walton Area Sports Club last Saturday. Grey council lets culvert tender During its regular meeting held on June 1, Grey Township Council accepted the tender of K.K.N. Construction amounting to $67,801 for the replacement of the culvert located at lot 21, concession 17-18. K.K.N. Construction’s tender was the lowest of four tenders submitted. Construction will begin in mid July and residents of the area are advised that the road will be closed during construction. Council also approved a dona­ tion of $100 to the Huron Plow­ men’s Association for 1987. In other business, Council ap­ proved general accounts amount­ ing to $256,109.91, road accounts amounting to $81,296.05 and drain accounts amounting to $1,884.40.
