Phone 887-9487 A large crowd of visitors and members attended the Anniver­ sary Service at Calvin-Brick church 'JCW Evening in East Wawanosh, Sunday, June 7. Music was provided by Mrs. George McGee at the piano and Mrs. Norman Coultes at the organ. The Junior choir sang three selections entitled ‘ ‘The Wise Man Spirit” and compared Christians without the Holy Spirit to a band of monkeys able to gather a pile of wood and arrange it as if to start a fire, but having nothing to start the fire with. 50 relatives attend Armstrong family reunion The family of Mrs. Ellen Arm­ strong held a reunion at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Carswell, Teeswater, Sunday, June 7. Fifty relatives were present including Mr. and Mrs. Jack Armstrong of Ottawawho is a nephew of Mrs. Armstrong. Games, contests anda picnic supper were enjoyed by everyone. Mrs. Harold Vincent accompan­ ied Mr. and Mrs. Neil Vincent to London, June 6, to the Spring Convocation of the University of Western Ontario where Joan received her Bachelor of Education degree and also was on the Dean’s honour list. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Logan, Kevin and Trevor of Wyoming spent June 7 weekend with their parents Mrs. Dorothy Logan and Mr. and Mrs. George McGee. Mrs. Ross Higgins will be the Convenor for the Family Consumer Affairs meeting, June 16 at8:15 p.m. in the W.I. Hall. The motto is Teenagers Need Models, not Critics. AngelaNethery, Huron County Dairy Princess will be guest speaker. Skits will be presented by 4-H members with lunch to follow. The family of Mrs. Margaret Dunbar gathered on Sunday, June 7 to celebrate her 85th birthday. Sixty family members including 23 great-grandchildren enjoyed a pot luck lunch at the Belgrave Institute Hall. Following lunch, open house was held with tea and squares being served by the ladies of the Presbyterian church. Neighbours and friends of this community wish to extend congrat­ ulations to Mrs. Margaret Dunbar of Belgrave who celebrated her 85th birthday June 7. Wayne Cook of Victoria B.C., Doug Cook of Airdrie, Alberta and Brad Cook and fiancee Priscilla Paul of Calgary, Alberta visited with their parents Mr. and Mrs. Norman Cook. Mrs. Margaret Dunbar and daughter Mrs. Norman Cook attended the wedding of Kevin Harvey MacDonald and Linda Taylor in St. Barnabus Anglican Church, London, June 6. E. Wawanosh, Morris pledge $3000 for Wl Hall repairs Grants totalling $3,000 have been pledged to the repair and renovation projects planned for the Women’s Institute hall in Bel­ grave, with $1,500 promised by each of Morris and East Wawanosh Township councils at late May meetings. The money will go toward repairs to the roof, and to interior renovations to accommodate the village branch of the Huron County Library, which will be moved from the Belgrave Arena later this summer. Itisestimatedthatthe two projects will cost close to $7,000. As well, the Belgrave Women’s Institute has applied for a grant of more than $2,300 from the Mini­ stry of Citizenship and Culture, with the hopes that this might be approved by mid-July. The Institute is also selling raffle tickets on a quilt donated by the Belgrave Quilters, with all pro­ ceeds going towards hall repairs. Tickets are available from W.I., members, and from all Belgrave stores. Unit studies faith The Evening Unit of the United Church Women was held at the home of Mrs. Melville Mathers, Tuesday, June 2 and opened with a poem ‘‘The Art of Friendship”. The theme of the worship service was “Faith” conducted by Mrs. George Johnston. A Bible presen­ tation on the “Second coming of Christ” was presented by Mrs. Jim Hunter. The meeting closed with the benediction and lunch was served by Mrs. Ross Higgins and Mrs. Les Shaw. Knox women hold June meeting The W.M.S. of Knox Presbyter­ ian Church, Belgrave, held their June meeting on Monday at the home of Mrs. Joe Dunbar. Mrs. Garner Nicholson opened the meeting with the call to worship. She then read, “Faith of Our Fathers”. The scripture was read from Hebrews 11 by Mrs. Mac Scott. Mrs. Dunbar read a story, “The Man of Faith” and Mrs. Ivy Cloakey led in prayer. Mrs. Hazel Dalrymple read a story on The Lord’s Prayer. Mrs. Hebo Siertsema read a poem, “Have you Ever.” Mrs. Irene Schultz read a poem, “A Swarm of Bees” and “Are we getting forgetful?” The roll call was answered by a verse on “Faith”. The secretary’s report was given by Mrs. Jack McBurney. The treasurer’s report by Mrs. Cloakey. Mrs. Nicholson gave a few highlights of the spring rally, then she read a story on Ronald McDonald Houses of which there are 10 in Canadian cities. Rev.
