Board sees video on Catholic school system BY WILMA OKE A short video clip was shown to the trustees of the Huron-Per th County Roman Catholic Separate School Board April 27. Made by Tracey Luciani of Listowel, who is a CKNX reporter, the video clip was made for the school board. It explains the purpose of the Catholic School System and provides a glimpse of the four levels of schooling for which the board is responsible -- primary, junior, intermediate and senior divisions. Its first showing was during the Education Week display at the Stratford Mall beginning Thurs­ day. It will also be used as part of the opening of the Provincial Education Week in Perth County in April, 1988, also at the Board’s display at the International Plow­ ing Match in September, 1988, when the Plowing match is held in Perth County near Stratford. Lin Steffler of Walton, a board office employee for the past 17 years has been offered the position in the board office which will lead to the position of accountant. Her new position will commence May 18 at an annual salary of $27,500. She will retain current responsibil- Mary Ellen Vodden wed ZUPANSKI-VODDEN Mary Ellen Vodden of Niagara Falls, (and formerly of Blyth) and Mr. Randy Zupanski of Niagara Falls, were united in marriage in Lundy’s Lane United Church; Niagara Falls, on April 25. The minister of Lundy’s Lane United Church, was assisted at the service by Rev. Dr. Alan Macin­ tosh of Toronto. After the service the parents of the bride and groom hosted a hospitality hour at the church. The wedding dinner was served in the Old Stone Inn followed by a reception. Two new classroom teachers have been hired to start work on September 1 at St. Michael Secondary School in Stratford: • Jim Gaylor, presently head of the science department at Mitchell District High School, and • Sister Mary Margaret Parent, an Ursuline Sister, presently work­ ing in adult education with the Public School Board in Windsor. 4-H meeting held BY MARGARETCRONYN The fourth meeting of the Topstitches was held on April 28 at the home of Debbie Craig. The meeting was opened with the 4-H pledge. Members answer­ ed the roll call which was to answer items that are needed for sewing. The members played the bingo game from meeting three. The business of the meeting was discussed. Members then read over the meeting material and made a hem samplefor their books. Home activities were then read over. Diane Lalonde was hired as a special education teacher at St. Joseph’s School in Clinton effec­ tive September 1, while Cathy Drennan was transferred from St. Joseph’s School in Clinton to St. Joseph’s School in Kingsbridge. Wilma VanBakel was hired as itinerant core French teacher for Stratford school, effective Sep­ tember 1. The Maitland Valley Conserva­ tion Authority has offered to attend a board meeting to outline the present program offered and future ones.
