Brussels Bulls Captain Tim Fritz was awarded a plaque as Best All-Round player of the 1986-87 hockey season. Team Manager Steve Coulter made the presentation at the team's annual banquet at the BMG arena on Saturday night. ulls honour players, BYLOISMcARTER The annual awards banquet was held on Saturday night when approximately 100 people includ­ ing players with their guests, coaches, parents and fans sat down to a delicious roast beef dinner at the Brussels Morris and Grey Community Centre, After the meal. President Brian Huether welcomed everyone and expressed his appreciation to executive, players and coaches, and the faithful fans who had made the 86-87 season such a successful one. He then called on Manager Steve Coulter for a few words. Steve congratulated the team also for their good season and called on Joe Steffler to make a presentation to Brian and Dianne Huether for their hard work for the club during the year. Joe then commented on several things that occurred during the season and stated he was quite proud of his team’s performance this year as they had gone farther than any other team since the Bulls were organized. Joe and Steve then presented team pictures to all members of the executive, coach­ ing staff and players. The presentation of individual awards then followed. The first award of the night was a new one this year and was called the “Coaches’ Players’ Award’’. It was made by Coach Joe Steffler to MikeChapmanwho, he said, was a great leader in keeping the team fired up in the dressing room and on the ice. The rest of the awards were presented by the players who won them last year. •The Best Defenceman Award was won by Paul Robinson and was presented by Dave Harding. • High Scorer of the year was Tim Fritz with 100 points and was presented by Kevin McArter. •Most Improved Player was awardedto Brian Campbell and was presented by Mike Chapman. •Most Valuable Player In the Playoffs Award ended in a tie and was awarded jointly to goalie Jeff McGavin and centreman Kevin McArter and was presented by Tim Fritz. •Best All Around Player Award was made to Tim Fritz by Manager Steve Coulter. Jack Vader and Brian Huether presented plaques to the Overage Playersforthose whowill notbe able to return to play next year. They were Rob Cardiff, Dave Harding, Blake Flett, Pat Cham­ bers and Doug Shaw. The Players then made some presentations of their own to the people they felt helped them the most during the season. •Dave Harding presented a plaque to Assistant Coach Hugh Nichol who he said was there faithfully every Saturday morning to work with them on the ice. •Jeff McGavin presented a plaque to Manager Steve Coulter who was the liason for the team and kept the paper work in line. •Pat Chambers presented a plaque to Jim Garniss the St. John’s Ambulance attendant who faithfully attended every game both at home and away, and cared for every ache and pain that the players had (of which were many) and they certainly appreciated his helping hands. •Kevin McArter presented a plaque to Dave Hastings whom the players considered their No. 1 go-getter.
