The motion was made by councillors Harvey Stewart and Robert Szusz at a meeting of township council on April 21, in response to a delegation from a local service club which attended the meeting to make the request. A spokesman for the township refus ed to disclose the affiliation of the delegation. Part of the motion reads * ‘we feel that service clubs are a welcome asset to the community, but as each service club services their own immediate area that it is not fair to theratepayerofthe township to support their activities by giving township grants when various means of fund raising are available to the clubs.” In other business, Hullett coun cil has authorized clerk Harry Lear to arrange a meeting with the provincial and federal electoral boundary commissions to improve and finalize the boundaries of the electoral districts within the town ship prior to the next election, which couldoccur later this spring. Assistant clerk Bev Shaddick said that previously Hullett boundaries have differed in both federal and provincial elections, causing a certain amount of confusion and inconvenience to voters unsure of the location of their polling station. Mr. Lear was also authorized to pre-pay the first quarter install ments of the levies imposed by boththeHuronCounty Board of Education and Huron County Council as the township’s share of the budgets of the two bodies. He was also instructed to send a letter to the Ministry of Transport and Communications and to local members of government adding support to a recent request that Highway #4 be re-built between Blyth and Wingham; and to the Township of Horton and various officials supporting Horton’s re solution to consider funding for the purchase of motorized firefighting equipment for small municipali ties. Also at the meeting Council approved the Clinton Fire Area Board budget for 1987; and called foranengineeringreporton the reconstruction of several Londes- boro streets, including Elizabeth street from Sara street to Silver street and Silver street to County Road 15.
