A group of Grades 7 and 8 “farmers” pray for the “market to go up a quarter of a dollar' ’ at the Hullett Farm Show at Hullett Central School in Londesboro last week. The number was part of the Spring Concert presented by the school in recognition of Education Week across Ontario. Large crowd for Hu!left's spring concert Londesboro stepdancers win firsts at Stratford The stepdancing students per­ formed at Stratford Kiwanis this week, students of Cheryl Bromley. They are Karla Stacey, Kara Murray, Jennifer Szusz, Paula Allen, Rhonda Howatt, Kerrie Szusz and Alison Chamney. All students danced extremely well and Cheryl was proud of each one. Receiving special awards were Rhonda Howatt, third in clog, jig and reel; Sweet Dreams consisting of Paula, Jennifer and Rhonda, third in old tyme reel and third in clog, jigand reel; KarlaStacey, second in novice old tyme reel and Kara Murray first in novice old tyme reel. Principal Ron Jewitt welcomed all to the Hullett Central School’s spring concert. 0 Canada was sung. A large attendance enjoyed the concert April 29. Junior and Senior band directors were Mr. D. Higgins and Mrs. B. Bosman, accompanist, Mrs. B. Livermore. The Farm show director was Mrs. B. Bosman and Mr. J. Talbot. The m.c.’s were Karen Plunkett and Brent Howatt. The commercial cast was Paul Jewitt, Lisa Kennedy, Scott Vod- den, Angela McCool, Kevin Wright and Ted Vanderlei. The winning first team was Dorothy Aidrie, Kim Brake, Debbie Cuthill, Arlene Salverda, Jane Lyon; se­ cond team, Connie DeJong, Col­ Hullett Central students visit area farm AGRICULTURE IN THE CLASSROOM On Wednesday, April 22, the classes from kindergarten to three enjoyed visiting three different farms. Mr. and Mrs. Johannes Boonstoppel, Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Bergsma, Mr. and Mrs. Don Pullen, and Radford’s Farm Equipment were kind enough to let the children look and learn about agriculture. Special thanks to these co-operative farmers for welcoming us to their business. They were two cottontail bunnies. Shannon Scott was kind enough to share them with the class. Everyone enjoyed having them and they learned quite a bit about rabbits. PEN PAL MEETING Grade three has just received a scrapbook from their pen-pals in Oshawa. Alsothey areplanning their exciting trip to the zoo in Toronto where they are meeting their pen-pals in person. They also had a visitor from the Ministry of Natural Resources. Nominations open Anyone wishing to make a nomination for the Citizen of the Year in Hullett township, may do so by writing a nomination letter and submitting it to Hullett Recreation Committee, c/o Mar­ jorie Anderson, RR 1, Londesboro. nie DeJong; most improved, Reta Kelland. Pins were given for perfect attendance for 250 and 300 games. After the banquet they went bowling. There were prizes and a wine and cheese party. about protecting habitat during National Wildlife Week. Allthe children were very excited when they received posters of the wildlife and iron-on stickers for their T-shirts. ACTIVITIES IN GRADE FOUR Grade four has been privileged to use a word processor and to write to another grade four class in Waterloo. Also they are studying Indians from British Columbia.
