Phone 523-4250 Happy Gang seniors plan pot luck dinner The Happy Gang met on April 29 at 1:30 p.m. President Audrey Thompson welcomed all. “O Can­ ada" was sung. Audrey read a recipe for good living. Roil call was answered with 27 presenting their collection of money-making draws. The min­ utes of the February meeting were read by secretary Margaret Good. There was no March meeting as they were invited to Goderich township dessert euchre that day. Eight members attended the Zone 8 spring rally in Dashwood. Thanks was received from Russell Good and Dora Shobbrook. A letter was received from Heart and Stroke Research. The Huronview County Home Club meal will be held June 9 at 12:45. The cost is $3. The program starts at 2 p.m. in the auditorium. The Huronview Auxiliary will host a birthday party on August 19. Londesboro will supply mixed cookies and squares. To attend the Follies in Hamilton on June 17, People around here CongratulationstoTraci Mit­ chell and Rob Radford who were married in the church on Saturday. They will be living in a home purchased from Vic Stackhouse in the west end of the village. Glad to report Penny Overboe returned home on May 2 from London and Clinton hospitals. Visiting with Bob and Vi Burns this past week was Bob’s brother Jim Burns of Enderby, B.C. On Sunday Vi’s sister Linda and Herb Roy of North Bay visited. A family gathering was held at Maitland Manor Nursing Home in Goderich in honor of Olive Gaunt’s 88th birthday by her family Ken and Margaret Gaunt, Faye and Harold Dalrymple and their fami­ lies. Present were Laura Lyon, Edythe Beacom, Ida Durnin, Lila Shulama. They also celebrated Ida Durnin’s 84th on May 7. Ray and Beth Radford, London spent the weekend with her parents, Bob and Audrey Thomp­ son and were guests at his brother’s Robert and Traci Rad­ ford’s wedding. Many enjoyed a visit with Colin and Jane Swan. They visited with Joan and Nick Whyte and were guests at the Radford-Mitchell 4-H dub learns about sewing BYTHERESA KNOX The fourth meeting of the Londesboro 4-H Sewing Plus Club was held on Monday evening, April 27, at the home of Darlene Hulley. The meeting was opened with the 4-H pledge and the minutes of the last meeting were read. The roll call was taken with a quiz on sewing equipment and business was discussed. The members decided to call the club ‘‘The Cutting Crew”, and discussed the achievement night. During the meeting, the topics discussed included how to con­ struct the pockets and sew them to the shirt, and also how to fit the shirt. Facings, collars, and cuffs were also discussed along with topstitching and different kinds of hems. Thenextmeetingistobe held May 7 at 7 p.m. at the home of Joanne Campschroer. contact Clara Riley for tickets. May 27th meeting will be a pot luck dinner at 12 p.m. Wear v diking shoes to walk after dinner. Lome Hunking reported on the Senior games June 22-23 in Seaforth. It will cost $1 per person. There will be a euchre play-off for Happy Gang in hall on Tuesday, May 5 at 1:30 p. m. The treasurer ’ s report was given by Hazel Reid showing a balance of $52.43. It was moved to send a card of sympathy to Florence Vivian. Themeetingclosedand cards were played. Pianists win prizes at Walkerton Congratulations go to a pair of young girls in the Londesboro area. Melanie Knox and Sara Lyons received first place in their piano duet at the Midwestern Ontario Rotary Music Festival in Walker­ ton lastweek. Asthiswas their first year participating, everyone is really pleased for them. They are students of Gail Lear of Londes­ boro. Other students from the Wing­ ham area have been active in this festival for the past five years and always enjoyed the experience. Gail’s students placed with seven firsts, four seconds and two thirds Church news Welcoming Sunday morning at the Londesboro United Church were Rev. Snihur and Harry Snell. The ushers were Shannon Duizer, Kelly Bosman, Christine Potter and Kerri Szusz. Rev. Snihur welcomed all and gave the announcements. The flowers in the church were from the Radford-Mitchell wedding. Next Sunday is Mother’s Day and there will be no Sunday School. There will be a hymn-sing at 10:50. There will be a sacrament of infant baptism. The children’s song was ‘‘I’ve got peace like a river. ’ ’ The story was about Muffle returning to the farm and he found a necklace. Junior teachers were Connie Hog­ gart, Tracy Salverda and Crystal Whyte. The scripture from psalm 47 was given by Gordon Shob­ brook. The scripture was from Ruth 1, ‘‘He and His sons die.’’ Bob Trick gave a touching report on a gift of $15,000 donation to the property fund from an anonymous giver. Scripture lesson was from Ruth 3, Naomi instructs Ruth. The anthem was sung with choir director, Marsha Szusz and organ­ ist, Deanna Lyon.
