Jeanette Boynton of Brussels, right, and her assistant Rose Marks took advantage of the great weather over the weekend to open The Summer Place, a new garden centre in Brussels. Located in the old Fina station on Turnberry Street, the new business will open officially on the May 16 weekend. Morning Star Rebekah Lodge held the draw for a quilt they were selling tickets on. Maria Krabbe of Listowel was the winner. Mrs. Margaret Kelly has safely returned from an enjoyable Eas­ tern Mediterranean Cruise. On Sunday, May 3, Glen, Mary Lou and Scott Johnston of Bluevale attended the Listowel Salvation Ball coaches needed Brussels minor ball officials are expressing concern for the future of minor ball this season because of a lack of volunteers to coach teams. With ball season quickly ap­ proaching some teams are still without coaches. Anyone interest­ ed in volunteering should call 887-6107, 887-6242 or 887-9445. Compiled by Marilyn Higgins Miss Laura Lucas of Brussels visited with her sister Mrs. Maude Firby, a former resident of Brus­ sels on the occasion of the celebration of Mrs. Firby’s 90th birthday on Saturday, May 2 at the Extendicare Nursing Home in London. A family dinner followed at the Nursing Home. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Pearson of Brussels accompanied Miss Lucan and also visited with Mrs. Firby who was their friend and neigh­ bour of years ago. Many happy returns Mrs. Firby from all your former friends in Brussels. Congratulations to Grey Owl Enterprises on their Grand Open­ ing May 2, we wish you luck in the years to come.
