JudvMasonpinnedbowsonthe apron and Traci thanked everyone for gifts and invited all to visit at the Open House at her mother’s home on May 4 and the reception is open in Holmesville. gets sewing tips BYTHERESA KNOX The third meeting of the Londes- boro4-H Sewing Plus Club was heldonApril20at 7 p.m. at the home of the leader, Joanne Campschroer. The meeting was then held. They discussed sewing machine care, problems and solutions, as well as how to use fusible interfacing, how to press seams, how to sew seams, and the many variations in a finished seam. They made a sample collar, using what they had learned and the meeting was adjourned. The next meeting will be held on April 27 at 7 p.m. at the home of Darlene Hulley. The meeting was opened with the4-H pledge and the roll call was taken with a sewing machine review quiz. Business was discuss­ ed and names for the club were suggested. Red tai planned On May 14, students of Cheryl Bromley will be showing off their step-dancing talents at their reci cal at Hullett Central School at 7-.30 p.m. Cheryl and the kids hope everyone will want to attend and Hullett Happenings enjoy the good time. Special guests this year are Kelly Bosman, Deanna Lyon, Lisa Bosman and Beth Knox with Marie Flynn at the pifino and Jack Lee as M.C. Students are from Auburn, Wal­ ton, Blyth and Londesboro. LSCIENCEFAIR On Apr; 1 1, Hullett held their annual Science Fair. The three judges were Tom Allen, Tom Cunningham and Ralph Buffinga. The students would like to thank these three men for judging their projects. The three grade seven Physical winners were: first, Michelle Govenlock; second, Randy Shep­ herd, and third, Michelle Dillon. Grade seven winners from the Biological category were: first, BrentHowatt; second, Melanie Knox; and third, Ian Andrews. The grade eight winners from the Phsyical category were: first, Denise Gross; second, Kim May­ berry and third, Mike Merner. The grade eight Biological winners were: first, Shane Taylor; second, Shannon Duizer and third, Tracy Kennedy. The first place winners received three silver dollars, second got two silver dollars and third place received one silver dollar. Shane Taylor, Brent Howatt and Christy Bricker were chosen to represent their school at the Huron County Science Fair which was held at the Clinton Public School on Friday, April 3. RABIES PROGRAM On Monday, April 6, there was a Rabies unit put on by the Huron County Board of Education. It was held for grades kindergarten to grade eight. VALUES INFLUENCES PEERS On April 7 the grade six class held their V.I.P. graduation. They put on some excellent skits about drinking, drugs, vandalism, etc. NATURAL RESOURCES The grade three class had a visit from Mr. Snell who is a speaker from the Ministry of Natural Resources. He talked to them about National Wildlife Week. FITNESS COUNTS The whole school is just now getting involved in the Canada Fitness Awards. There are push­ ups, shuttle runs, partial curl ups, 50 metre runs, endurance runsand standing long jumps to be done. There are bronze, silver, gold and excellence awards for the stu­ dents. SPRING CONCERT On Wednesday, April 29, the Hullett Central School will be performing their Spring Concert. Their theme this year is Agricul­ ture. They were Beth Knox, Gloria McEwing, Vietta Hoggartt, Margaret Taylor, Jean Scott, Hazel Reid, Addie Hunking, Betty Hulley, Estella Adams, Laura Lyon and Dora Shobbrook. Dora Shobbrook spent Easter weekend Wednesday, April 15 to Monday, April 20th with her daughter Muriel and Ross Millson and family in Woodstock. Villagers returning home from the sunny south this past week were Gordon and Madelon Rad­ ford from Palm Beach, Florida; Jim Londesboro church news Greeting on Sunday at the Londesboro United Church were Rev. Snihur and Ellwood Mitchell. The ushers were John Hoggart, Murray Howatt, Gerben Wilts, and Ed Salverda. Rev. Snihur welcomed all and gave the call to worship and announcements. The messengerswill meet next Sun­ day. Sunday School will be held at 10 a.m. Bible Study will be held this Friday at the home of Margaret Whyte. The anthem was sung by the men’schoir, “Preciousnameof Jesus, Oh how sweet.” Choir director was Marsha Szusz and organist was Deanna Lyon. The children’s time song was “This little light of mine”. The story time was about Cindy and Sally in Muffin returns to the farm. The junior teacher was Debbie Albrect. Kitty McGregor read the scripture from the old testament, Numbers 35:30- 34. Laws of murder was read byGordon Shobbrook. The scripture was from the New Testament about loving your ene­ mies and from John 8 about the adultress woman. The sermon was about preaching the issues - Capital Punishment. The debate begins April 27. and Gloria McEwing, Davenport, Florida; Edythe Beacom, Laura Lyon and Mary Longman from Punta Gorda, Florida; Roy and Ann Vodden, St. Cloud, Florida and Tom and Genevieve Allen, touring in Florida. The Happy Gang Seniors will meet April 29 at 1:30 p.m. in the hall. Sorry to report the death of village resident Keith Vivian, in University Hospital, London on April 22 at age 65. Sympathy is extended to his wife Florence and family, Ken of Red Deer, Alberta; Margaret Sheilds of Bramalee and Marlene and Mary Vivian of Toronto. Sunday visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Jim McEwing were Mr. and Mrs. Ray Jory and Mrs. Marion Skinner, Exeter. Huron County Women’s Insti­ tute Branches 4-H ‘‘Surviving with Style” achievement program will be held Thursday, May 7 at Hullett Central Public School, Londes­ boro. It begins at 7:30'p.m. Shuffleboard season ends The end of the season games of shuffleboard were held April 15 with an attendance of 12. The winners were: Helen Lawson and Lome Hunking. Lunch was served at the close of the season. They hope to see everyone in the fall. Congratulations to Hank and Shirley Reinink on the birth of a daughter on April 23 in St. Joseph’s Hospital, London. Ken Hulley was admitted to Seaforth Community Hospital on Friday. Roy Vodden Sr. was admitted to St. Joseph’s Hospital, London April 26 for plastic surgery on his knee on April 27. Muriel Millson, Patricia and Sarah of Woodstock visiteo on the weekend with her mother Dora Shobbrook. All attended a family shower on Sunday for Heather Young, May 30 bride-elect. It was held at the home of Dora Lynn Blake, Clinton. Also attending from here were Darlene and Diana Shobbrook and Joy Vodden. Olive Penfound is a patient in Clinton Public Hospital. Barbara and Colin Paterson. Katie and Jennifer of London spent the weekend with her parents Mr. and Mrs. Bob Burns. Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Bruce were guests on Saturday at the wedding of his nephew.
