Choice Goderich steer tops market at $105.25 Friday The market at Brussels Stock- yards on Friday continued to demand higher prices on all classes of cattle. Pigs sold barely steady. There were 731 cattle and 737 pigs on offer. Choice steers soldfrom $89 to $94 with a sale to $104.25 per hundredweight. Good steers were $85 to $89. A steer consigned by Tom and Roger Moore of RR 4, Goderich weighing 1140 lbs. topped the market at $104.25 with their lot of 10 steers averaging 1199 lbs. selling for $92.03. Nine steer consigned by Glen Haldenby of RR 1, Holy rood averaging 1147 lbs. sold for an overall price of $94.94 with a sale to $97.75. A fancy steer consigned by Hammond Bros, of RR 1. Monkton weighirjg 1020 lbs. sold for $102.75. Eight steers consigned by Doug ShiellofRR3, Wingham averaging 1233 lbs. sold for $94.20 with his offering of 14 steers selling for an overall price of $93.28. The food system is Ontario’s second largest business providing jobs for one of every five people in the province. The popular booklet features a look at the exciting career possibili- ties available to graduates of specialized diploma programs off­ ered by theOntario Ministry of Agriculture and Food. Selected graduates share their experiences on the job and while at college. An updated list of all agriculture and food diploma programs and the colleges offering each program makes a handy reference for students and guidance counsel­ lors. There’s also a thumbnail sketch about each college, its programs and facilities. Residential diploma programs are available at the Colleges of Agricultural Technology at Cen­ tralia, Kemptville, New Liskeard, Ridgetown, the University of Guelph and in the French language at Alfred. Home study courses leading to diplomas in agriculture and horti­ culture can be taken through Independent Study at the Univer­ sity of Guelph. The meeting was opened with the 4-H pledge. The business part of the meeting was discussed. The roll call was answered which was a sewing review. The minutes of the last meeting were read and passed. The meeting material of “Seams and Samples” was read over. Club members then made a collar sample. Leader Debbie Craig showed different seam finishes that could be done. For home activities, club members were to make the seam sample that they will be using on their shirt. The meeting was closed and refreshments served. The next regular meeting was held on April 28 at 7:30 p.m. at the home of Debbie Craig.
