EARL & MARG CALDWELL Photo by Randy Fraser Earl and Marg Caldwell celebrate 50 years of marriage Many guests were present to the Open House of Earl and Margaret Caldwell April 11, in honour of their 50th Anniversary. Earl and Marg were married April 14, 1937 in the Blyth United Church manse by Rev. Brooks. Their attendants were Murvin Govier and Margaret Caldwell, George and Luella McGowan. After the ceremony they returned to the McGowan’s for dinner. Luella McGowan was the only attendant left to attend the 50th Anniversary. She helped the cou­ ple open the many gifts as they arrived, so Earl and Marg could visit with the 200 guests as they came to the house. Jack Caldwell - their son and Lorna Fraser, his daughter, greeted everyone at the door as they arrived. Gail Ulch and Donna Caldwell visited and helped serve lunch of sandwiches and squares. Randy Fraser took some candid pictures of the couple and their visitors. The great-grand­ children Joe and Kathy Fraser and Jackie Caldwell, their grand­ daughter, had guests sign a guest book. Ron Ulch helped entertain. At 6 p.m. the family had a social time and light lunch of crackers, cheeseandsandwiches. Nelson Caldwell proposed a toast to The Most Wonderful Grandparents in the World through hard times and good times and someone to lean on, and, that they could still be in love after all these years. Three cheers were repeated by everyone. Then two-year-old Karl Ulch, their great-grandson, clinked glasses with Grandma and Grandpa. The evening brought more guests to the house and a great time was had by all. Also present at the house were: Earl’s brother Ralph and Gladys Caldwell and their family; sisters Ella Carter and Dorothy and Lawrie Scott and family; Marg’s brother, Bob and Lois Govier; her sisters Alice Anstay, Vi and Mel Good and Dorothy and John Lyndon. The sisters and sisters-in-law and daughter-in-law Erlene Cald- wellpouredteain the afternoon and evening from a tea pot that was given to Earl’s parents for their 50th Anniversary. Dianne Dobie saw that everything went over without a hitch. Earl and Marg were pleased with the turnout, God Bless all we Know and Love.
