Phone 887-9487 The Afternoon Unit of the U.C.W. met Tuesday, April 14 in the School room of the church. Mrs. Janisa Coultes was in charge due to the absence of the leader, Mrs. Sara Anderson. After the Call to Worship as taken from Matt: 28:5 and Philippines 4:4, Mrs. Florence Black read an Easter poem. Sunrise service held The Sunrise service in Knox United Church, Belgrave at 7 a.m. was prepared and presented by the U.C.W. This was followed by a delicious breakfast, which served approximately 50 people. Knox United Church, Bel­ grave was filled to capacity for the Easter Sunday service at 11:15 a.m. Easter music was played by Mrs. George Procter organist and Mrs. Les Shaw at the piano. Both the Junior and Senior Choirs sang appropriate Easter anthems. Mr. and Mrs. Gary Leitch, Julie and Jeff of Waterdown spent the Easter weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Robert Grasby. Mr. and Mrs. George John­ ston, Tara and Erin of Ilderton were Sunday visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Robert Grasby Laura Johnston. Mrs. Olive Bolt Sunday with Mr. and Stokes of RR 1, Wroxeter. Also visiting at the same home were Mr. and Mrs. Elwood Fitch, Jason and Jeremy of RR 1, Wroxeter. Mrs. Howard Zettler, Sherry, Amanda and Alicia visited on Monday with her mother Mrs. Elizabeth Procter. Mrs. Vera Gateman of Han­ over; Michael McIntosh of Bramp­ ton; friends of family, Traviss Koehler and Cathy Marks were Sunday visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John McIntosh. and Mrs. visited on Mrs. John berts, Belgrave was the honoured guest conductor of the choir and congregation at the Good Friday Gymanfa held annually in the Melrose Street United Church in Toronto. The service of Welsh hymns was conducted in both Welsh and English language. Those attending from Belgrave were: Rev. and Mrs. John Roberts, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Vincent, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Grasby, Mrs. John McIntosh, Mrs. Jim Hunter, Mrs. Norman Coultes and Mrs. Lewis Stonehouse. On Saturday evening Mar­ jorie Procter and Mr. Philip Stop- forth of London visited with friends at a Class Reunion at the Wingham Golf and Curling Club. They also spent the weekend with her mother Mrs. Elizabeth Procter. Mrs. Elizabeth Procter, Mar­ jorie Procter and Philip Stopforth visited on Sunday with Mr. and Howard Zettler, Sherry, Amanda and Alicia of RR 4, Walkerton. Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Ralph, Michael and Richard of Milton were Easter Sunday visitors with her brother-in-law and sister Mr. and Mrs. Tom Black. Mrs. William Black visited on Sunday with her daughters Mrs. Joan Riley and granddaughter Jodie of Dungannon. Mr. and Mrs. Vincent Makas and Alicia of London were week­ end visitors at the home of Mrs. Mabel Wheeler. Miss Meribeth Scott of London spent Easter weekend with her parents Mr. and Mrs. Murray Scott and Jeffrey. Mr. and Mrs. Rick Ball, Matthew and Alicia of Hanover, Mr. and Mrs. Rob Roy and Chris­ tina of Lakefield, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Anderson of Goderich, Sheila Anderson of Waterloo visited on the weekend with their parents Mr. and Mrs. Ross An­ derson. Mr. and Mrs. Glen Nixon and Tyler of Cambridge visited with Belgrave relatives on Easter week­ end. Mrs. Coultes reported that the general meeting of the U.C.W. will be May 28 with Mr. and Mrs. Ed Whitney of Sauble Beach to be the guest speakers. Mrs. Olive Camp­ bell reported that 33 cards had been sent out for Easter. Mrs. Jean Pattison opened the Worship with hymn “Beneath the Reeve offers to buy subdivision Cross of Jesus” and prayer by Mrs. Helen Martin read from St. John Chapter 20, verses 1-18. Following meditation and prayer. Mrs. Pattison lit a candle an dre ad the story “Light along the Way”. Mrs. Janisa Coultes used Chapter 24 of St. Luke and study from Wm. Barclay’s book Jesus of Nazareth for Bible Study. Mrs. Walter Scott had the Mission Study re: the Philippines and their government and their dif- Acuities. The hymn, “Christ the Lord is Risen” and prayer by Mrs. Coultes closed the meeting. A company with which East Wawanosh reeve Ernie Snell is closely associated has placed a $51,000 offer to purchase on the township-owned Humphrey Sub­ division at Belgrave. The offer was discussed at a .special meeting of township council on April 13. Mr. Snell did not attend due to the conflict of interest. 11 tables at euchre party Eleven tables were in play at the weekly euchre which was held in the W.I. hall, Belgrave, April 15. Winners were: high lady, Mrs. Ronald Coultes; novelty lady, Mrs. Helen Martin; low lady, Mrs. Lome Jamieson; lucky draw lady, Mrs. Clarence Hanna; high man, Clarence Hanna; novelty man, Gordon Bosman; low man, Mrs. Olive Fuller (playing as a man); lucky draw man, Mrs. Lewis Stonehouse (playing as a man). There will be euchre again this Wednesday starting at 8 p.m. Everyone is welcome. Snell Investors Ltd. has of­ fered to cover all expenses incurred by the township on the 25-acre site, a total of $51,000 to date, plus any legal fees associated with the sale. The agreement has gone to a lawyer for comment, and if both sides are in agreement, the sale could be finalized as early as May 5, the date of the next regular township council meeting. Mr. Snell said that if his company purchases the property, it will clear the township of any obligation in the matter, adding that his company intends to proceed with development this summer.
