Melville WMS gets letter from Zambia
The April meeting of Melville
Women’s Missionary Society was
heldinthechurchparlorwith 13
members and three visitors pre
sent.
Mrs. Helen Elliott the President
opened the meeting with a poem

chapter formed
The Brussels Chapter of Amne
sty International has been formed.
Amnesty International is a
worldwide movement which seeks
the release of “Prisoners of
Conscience”. The Brussels chap
ter will be part of the Urgent Action
Letter writing network. Each
month members write to govern
ments which hold prisoners of
conscience.
On Monday, April 20at8p.m.
the next meeting will be held at the
Brussels Mennonite Fellowship.
Anyone interested is welcome to
attend or call 887-9663 or 887-6112.

A letter was read from Ellen
Waldock of Zambia, South Africa
for the box she received from our
group, of bandages, shirts for
patients and 4 x 4’s as they do not
have Kleenex and all was really
appreciated.
The secretary’s and treasurer’s
report were given. Several towels
were brought to the meeting to be
sent to Armagh in Toronto, a home
for battered women. The Synodical
is to be in Listowel April 21-22.
The offering was taken by
Evelyn Mair and dedicated by
Helen Elliott. The hymn, “Be
neath the Cross of Jesus’’ was
sung. A story on “How shall I keep
Lent’’ written by Ninette De
Gangi was read by Helen Elliott.
The scripture from Matt 28, Chapt.
verses 1-10 and 16-20 was read by
Isabel Adams. Wilma Hemingway
led in prayer. Marguerite Krauter
gave the Easter message. The
hymn, ‘‘We Sing the Praise of Him
Who Died’’ was sung and Helen
Elliott closed the meeting with
prayer.
