Twenty- two were present and answered the roll call with a verse from Matthew’s Gospel. Leaders of the Meditation period were Mary Howson and Henni Meier who brought beautiful thoughts on the miracles and mysteries of God, from the Bibles Easter story, from prayers, a Accident kills 2-year-old On Friday, April 10, an unfortu nate farm accident resulted in the death of a two-year-old girl. Police will say only that the accident occured on a farm 100 km. north of London. Wingham OPP said that the child, along with four other children, was riding in a farm wagon pulled by a tractor. The dead girl climbed over the side of the wagon and fell to the ground, where she was run over by a wagon wheel. She was transferred to Victoria Hospital in London where she died Saturday of head injuries. Due to the publicity surrounding the “Amanda” transplant in Lon don, the parents of the dead child have requested that no further information be released. poem, an essay, and a story. Rena Watt playedforthe hymns. One" selected was “The Old Rugged Cross.” Ollie Craig gave an in-depth study on Nicaragua using material she had studied from church periodicals and Macleans maga zine. She stated that the upheaval there is due in large part, to the abject poverty of the majority. The good news is, she said, more freedom is being given to the massesby thegovernment. The Sandinistas, for instance, have opened radio stations, for a long time closed. She reviewed the help the Canadian government has sent to Nicaragua and the extent of their trade at present. Co-leader Mary Wightman, af ter extending courtesy remarks, pointed to the U.C.W. banner crafted by Evalena Webster and Mary Holland which was one of the many on display at the U.C.W. London conference held recently at which the speaker was Mrs. Ann Squire, United Church moderator. Lenora Davidson’s card report stated that a get-well card had been sent to Charlotte Bell, Huronview, who recently had suffered a broken wrist and one to Dorothy Daer who now, we are glad to report, is home from hospital. Harvey McCallum had been sent a sympathy card and Earl and Margaret Caldwell con gratulations. Earl and Marg cele brated their 50th wedding anniver sary last Saturday. A thank you card had been received by Margaret McCul lough. Business consisted of assigning duties for managing the Sunshine unit’s bake table at the Garage sale on the evening of May 8. Baking is to be in between 4-5 p.m. At the close of the meeting, fellowship was enjoyed and lunch was served by Evalena Webster, Ida Proctor and Bernice Cham bers.
