Brussels Wl gives tips
on short order meals
Are you involved in a daily race
against the clock as you try to cook
nutritious meals for your family?
Eleven ladies, members of the
“First Class,” met in the Brussels
library on Monday afternoon to be
coached by the leader, Kathy
Bridge, in the course “Short Order
Meals.” The course was sponsor
ed by the Majestic Women’s
Institute. Suggestions were given
on how to be a good efficient cook.
“Organization” is the key word
for quick and easy complete meals.
By planning your menus a week in
advance you can have nutritious
well-planned meals plus save time,
energy and money.
The skilfull use of seasonings
can make the regular fare seem
less repetitious and more exciting.
The class was divided into four
groups, each of which made a
different short order dessert.
These were later eaten. Microwave
directions were also discussed.

THE EDITOR,
Have you ever considered runn

excuses I’ve heard for not partici

enough about council ’ s business or
government affairs” or “Don’t
think I’m capable. ” Now’s your
chance.
A nine-week course “The Struc-

THE EDITOR,
After reading the March 18 issue
of The Citizen, I would like to
comment on the problem of
Farmers’ crops vs. geese.
A situation has arisen in an area
west of Calgary, virtually the same
as that in Hullett Township. A
small area of approximately 30
square miles, which is primarily
cashcropandhay, hasbecomea
haven for winter grazing elk. The
farmers were outraged that the elk
were eating their grain and hay and
knocking down fences.
The Provincial Ministry of Fish
and Wildlife decided to have a
special draw to a limited number of
hunters to shoot some elk and scare
the rest back into the foothills.
When the hunters were drawn and

THE EDITOR,
On behalf of the Heart and
Stroke Foundation, I would like to
thank the people of Blyth for their
generous support during our re
cent campaign. A total of $750.25
was realized, up from last year.
Special thanks to the canvassers
for their hard work.
Much of this money remains in
our County, helping fund the five

prepared for the first day of the
hunt, they were met by No
Trespassing, No Hunting signs,
and land owners kicking people off
their land, or refusing access. To
say the least, very few elk were
taken, crops were damaged and
fences knocked down, the farmers
are still screaming for something to
be done about the problem. Ironic
isn’t it!

Brussels and area residents
should realize the benefits coming
from these continuing education

Not only do we have the opportun

just to name a few.
