Brussels Wl gives tips on short order meals Are you involved in a daily race against the clock as you try to cook nutritious meals for your family? Eleven ladies, members of the “First Class,” met in the Brussels library on Monday afternoon to be coached by the leader, Kathy Bridge, in the course “Short Order Meals.” The course was sponsor ed by the Majestic Women’s Institute. Suggestions were given on how to be a good efficient cook. “Organization” is the key word for quick and easy complete meals. By planning your menus a week in advance you can have nutritious well-planned meals plus save time, energy and money. The skilfull use of seasonings can make the regular fare seem less repetitious and more exciting. The class was divided into four groups, each of which made a different short order dessert. These were later eaten. Microwave directions were also discussed. Learn more about local politics THE EDITOR, Have you ever considered runn ing for office in a municipality? The excuses I’ve heard for not partici pating have been “I don’t know enough about council ’ s business or government affairs” or “Don’t think I’m capable. ” Now’s your chance. A situation has arisen in an area west of Calgary, virtually the same as that in Hullett Township. A small area of approximately 30 square miles, which is primarily cashcropandhay, hasbecomea haven for winter grazing elk. The farmers were outraged that the elk were eating their grain and hay and knocking down fences. The Provincial Ministry of Fish and Wildlife decided to have a special draw to a limited number of hunters to shoot some elk and scare the rest back into the foothills. When the hunters were drawn and Thanks for giving THE EDITOR, On behalf of the Heart and Stroke Foundation, I would like to thank the people of Blyth for their generous support during our re cent campaign. To say the least, very few elk were taken, crops were damaged and fences knocked down, the farmers are still screaming for something to be done about the problem. Ironic isn’t it!
