Mr. and Mrs. Garner Nicholson, Rob Nicholson and Miss Pat Schnurr of Hanover visited on Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Ron Nicholson and Sherri of Barrie. A dinner honouring Bill and Isabel Elston of RR 5, Brussels on their 40th wedding anniversary (which falls on April 8) was held at the Wingham Golf and Country Club on Saturday, April 4. Attending the dinner were Wayne and Lynda, Carolyn and Jacquelyn; Murray and Trudy, Jeannine, Erin, Jim, Gillian and Sean, Wingham; Keith and Barb and Emily, RR 4, Wingham, Mary Ellen Elston of Wingham, Wayne Ross of Harriston and Susan Elston of RR 5, Brussels. Brothers and sisters from London, Arva, Petro­ lia, Bluevale and Wingham. An open house followed where the couple received good wishes, cards, flowers and gifts. Over 200 guests from the surrounding area as well as Waterloo, Brigden, Petrolia, Bel­ grave, Clinton and Seaforth. The ladies of the Bluevale Presbyterian Church served lunch. Other honoured guests at the dinner were Mr. and Mrs. Jack Bowman of RR 5, Brussels who celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary April 7 and (Aunt) Mrs. M ary Yuill of Brussels. 9 tables at euchre Mrs. George McGee and Mrs. Clifford Logan spent the weekend at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Logan and family of Wyoming. On Sunday they attended the special U.C.W. service of 25 years, in Wyoming United Church. Mr. and Mrs. Doug Mitchell, 4-H sheep dub elects executive The first meeting of the Huron County Sheep club was held at Florence Pullen’s house on Satur­ day, April 4, 1987. First, members discussed im­ portant events coming up, then they opened the meeting with the 4-H pledge. Next they discussed what was expected of the officers. They voted to find out the following officers: president, Scott Johnston; vice president, Kim Municipalities get the word on county levy increases Nine tables were in play at the weekly euchre which was held in the W.I. Hall, Belgrave, April 1. They talked about all that was required in their books. After they discussed the meet­ ing, they played two games that dealt with sheep. Florence Pullen then served juice and doughnuts and was thanked for hosting the meeting. The meeting was adjourned and the 4-H motto was said. SEAFORTH 527 0120 A breakdown of the apportion­ ment schedule for the more than $4.9 million Huron County general levy for 1987 shows that the county’s 16 rural municipalities willberequiredtocomeupwith $3,203,339 of that amount while the 10 urban municipalities will be responsible for the balance of $1,694,208. At its regular meeting last Tuesday, county council ratified the apportionment schedule for its $4,897,547 general levy as recom­ mended by the executive commit­ tee. Goderich, the county seat, is the municipality with the greatest apportionment, $612,487, which represents slightly more than 12.5 per cent of the overall levy. Stephen Township is the next largest contributor with $526,339, or almost 10.75 per cent of the general levy. The Village of Zurich will pay the least, $34,b26 or .7 per cent, while Brussels is next lowest with $46,918 or almost .98 per cent. The five towns will contribute a total of $ 1,388,454 to county coffers this year. The town apportion­ ments are: Goderich, $612,487; -Exeter, $298,603; Wingham, $190,221; Clinton, $155,056; Sea­ forth, $132,087. Apportionments for the county’s five villages are: Hensail, $96,776; Bayfield, $79,389; Blyth, $48,045; Brussels, $46,918; Zurich, $34,626. Forthetownships, the appor­ tionments are: Stephen, $526,339; Goderich, $284,498; Hay, $254,966; Ashfield, $229,989; Tuckersmith, $218,137; Howick, $198,302; Usborne, $195,951; Stanley, $192,229. Hullett, $182,189; McKillop, $175,479; Colborne, $166,517; Grey, $161,864; Morris, $133,850; Turnberry, $107,697; East Wawa- nosh, $93,592; West Wawanosh, $81,740. Compared to those of last year, individual municipal apportion­ ment increases in 1987 range from a low of 1.49 per cent for West Wawanosh to Bayfield’s 16.36 per cent. For West Wawanosh, that represents $1,201 more than 1986 and for Bayfield, $11,163 over last year’s contribution. Goderich ratepayers will pay $80,453 more than last year, those in Exeter will be contributing $31,127 more; Wingham, $22,803; Clinton. $31,127;and Seaforth, $10,731. First, members said the 4-H pledge. They talked about the patterns and material they had picked out for the club, then they went on with the meeting. The officers are as follows: President, Carol Hopper; Vice- President, Karen Procter; Secre­ tary, Karen Montgomery; Press Reporter, Krista Bridge. The members talked about their home activities and about nine different hems to use on their blouses.
