Lifting their voices in joyful song, these girls were part of the large talented local groups, as well as inspirational entertainers from farther crowd that filled Londesboro’s United Church at the seventh annual afield. Songfest held on Sunday evening. The celebration featured several Large crowd at songfest A large crowd attended the seventh annual Songfest, April 5. Bill Bromley was at the door. Ushers were John Hoggart and Ed Salverda. Master of Ceremonies was Rev. Dave Snihur. Organist was Deanna Lyon. Pianist was Marsha Szusz. Following O Canada the follow­ ing groups gave a very enjoyable concert: Londesboro Church Jun­ ior Choir, the Prouty Family, Just Plain Folk, TheKing’s Messen­ gers, The Scott Family, Bryon and Brent Howatt. The hymn, “Bles­ sed Assurance’’ was sung. John Jewitt on the bagpipes was accompanied on the organ by Barb Bosman. The evening closed with “When the Roll is called up yonder.’’ Lunch was provided for the performers after the concert. The Board of Stewards would like to thank all who took part in the concert, both the performers and audience. Special thanks to Elgin Penfound for arranging this even­ ing. June Fothergill had ladies high, Rachel Reihl had lone hands and Helen Lawson had the low. For the men Harvey Dolmage had high, Allen Shaddick had the most lone hands and Eric Ander­ son had the low score. This is the last euchre of the season. Ushers were Nick Whyte, Jack Lee, Don McGregor and Len Archambault. Rev. Snihur wel­ comed all and gave the Call to Worship and the announcements. The children’s song “I’ve got the Joy” was sung. Rev. Snihur told them about eggs. Junior leader was Caron Snihur. The anthem was sung with choir leader Marsha Szusz and organist Deanna Lyon. The sermon, “The Form not the Power’’ was given. Next Sunday is Palm Sunday when several new members will be received into membership of the church. Dora Shobbrook taken to hospital We wish Mrs. Dora Shobbrook and Mrs. RetaKellanda speedy recovery.
