Masons flock to Brussels for dedication St. John’s Lodge #284 Ancient, Free and Accepted Masons, Brus­ sels had its new lodge room dedicated on April 4 by A. Lou Copeland, Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of Canada in the Province of Ontario. Following the dedication, a reception and banquet was held in the Brussels, Morris and Grey Community Centre to honor the Grand Master. Right Worshipful Brother, Bruce McCall of Brussels was chairman for the occasion. In addition to the brethren from North Huron district who hosted the reception, there were many visitors including a good represen­ tation of Grand Lodge officers. Some came from as far away as Ottawa, Toronto, Wallaceburg and New Liskard for the occasion. One of the main items on the program was the introduction of the Master of the lodges in North Huron district to the Grand Master, conducted by Right Wor­ shipful Brother Dennis Langridge of Wingham, immediate past District Deputy Grand Master and Right Worshipful Brother Andrew Burgess, Kincardine, the present District Deputy Grand Master of North Huron. The Grand Master presented Right Worshipful Brother Gordon Gibson of Wroxeter with a pin representing 60 years as a Past Master. The highlight of the evening was the response which the Grand Master gave to the toast to Grand Lodge. Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Ward and Julie of St. Marys visited with Mr. and Mrs. Bob Higgins, Dennis and Ronald of Blyth and Mr. and Mrs. Alvie Higgins, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Higgins and Ken over the week­ end. A large number of the Brussels Crusaders attended the Buck and Doe for Alex Henderson and Carol Campbell on Saturday evening. They are being married in May. Alex is the trainer for the Intermed­ iate Hockey Team. Mr. Brian David and Mr. Bruce David of Shallow Lake are staying with Mr. and Mrs. Alvie Higgins while working in this area. The community was shocked to hear of the sudden passing of Mr. Tom Garniss. Sympathy is extend­ ed to Muriel and family. Sheila Richards and Doug Ri­ chards of St. Thomas have return­ ed after travelling to Edmonton, Alta, to attend the wedding of Paul McKinney and Janet Jerke. Fol­ lowing the wedding and together with Mr. and Mrs. James McKin­ ney of Burlington, they visited Mr. and Mrs. David Laird of Lacombe, Alta. The Lairds raise and show prize Morgan horses and run a 5,000 head feed lot. Mr. and Mrs. Allan Lee, Fort Saskatchewan were also visited. Diana Lee and her mother Mrs. Hilda Wellington, are long-time friends of the Richards’ family from Arvida, Quebec.
