VIC JAMIESON BELGRAVE AND BRUSSELS PRESBYTERIAN CHURCHES In Good News For Modern Man in Hebrews 10: 10-12 we read: “Because Jesus Christ did what Godwantedhimtodo.weareall madeclean from sin by the offering that He made of His own body, once and for all. Every Jewish priest stands and performs his services everyday and offers the same sacrifices many times. But these sacrifices can never take away sins. Christ, however, offer ed one sacrifice for sins, an offering that isgood forever, and then sat at the right side of God.” Most of us work hard to pay off all our earthly debts. But there is one debt that we cannot pay for by any or all our efforts - the cost of all that separates us from God - our sins. Some of us may think that we do not have any sins because we are good living people. But there is bad ncwsinRomans3:23: “all have sinned and are far away from God’s saving presence.” Romans 5: 12 explains our problem: “Sin came into the world through one man (Adam), and his sin brought death with it. As a result, death spread to the whole human race.” Butitwasth ewill or desire of God to offer a way out of this problem for everyone by the sacrificial offering of his Son, Jesus Christ once. Hebrews 7:21 tells us: “Jesus became a priest by means of a vow, when God said tohim, The Lord has made a vow and will not change his mind: You will be a priest forever.” Hebrews 9: 11-14 goes on to say; “But Christ has already come as death completely paid for sins the High Priest of the good things that are already here. The tent in which he serves is greater and more perfect; it is not made by men, that is, it is not part of this created world.
