The Afternoon Unit of Knox
United U.C.W. met on Tuesday,
March 17 in the school room with
10 ladies presentand Mrs. Sara
Anderson in charge.
After the minutes and treasur
er’s reports, Mrs. Janisa Coultes
brought to attention some of the
meetings and articles from the
Huron-Perth Presbyterial
“Alert.”
An invitation from the Belgrave
Presbyterian Church to meet with
them April 6 was accepted. Mrs.
Jamieson of Brusselswillbethe
speaker.
During the meeting the hymns
“When I Survey the Wondrous
Cross” and “Rock of Ages” were
sung.

Sucker caught in trap
While Clarence Hanna was
checking his muskrat traps on the
creek just below his house he came

spent last weekend with Mr. and
Mrs. Clarence Hanna.

King City; Mrs. George Black of
Campbellville and Mrs. Tom Moy,
Craig and Sara of Mississauga,
visited with Mrs. Sara Anderson
last week.
Wayne Minick, Edwin, Cather
ine and Jennifer of Kitchener
visited on Monday with Mr. and
Mrs. Clarence Hanna. Later they
all left for Ellicottville, New York
State where they spent 4 days at the
Holiday Ski Resort.
Mrs. Don Whitfield, Jenny and
Jeffrey of Sault Ste. Marie, spent
the holiday weekend with her
parents, Mr. and Mrs. George
Michie.
Mr. and Mrs. Jim Baker and
Mark of London spent Thursday
with their parents, Mr. and Mrs.
George Michie.
Visiting March 15 at Dunkeld,
celebrating the birthday of Mrs.
Elizabeth Procter were: Darry
Mayberry of Londesboro; Sherry
and twins Amanda and Alicia
Zettler of RR 4, Walkerton;
Marjorie Procter of London; Mr.
and Mrs. Larrv Mayberry, Marilyn
and Kimberley of Londesboro; Mr.
and Mrs. Howard Zettler of RR 4,
Walkerton and Mr. and Mrs. Frank
Procter, Karen and Kevin of RR 5,
Brussels.
Following the dinner at Dun
keld, all went to the home of Mr.

of the Aborigines in Australia and
the hardships through the years
and considered second class citi
zens and Mrs. Lawrence Taylor
told of their struggle to keep alive.
A discussion followed on mem
bers’ feelings toward the people of
othercolors and races in the world.

The Citizenship meeting of the
Women’s Institute was held at the
Belgrave Hall with the president,
Mrs. Isabel Campbell in the chair.
The roll call was answered by,
“Something I am proud of in our
community.”
The program convenor, Mrs.
Gladys Van Camp read an article
on Saint Patrick, the patron saint of
Ireland, then introduced the guest
speaker, Mrs. Nancy Michie. As
clerk of Morris Township, Mrs.
Michie spoke on the motto, “A
good citizen should be well inform
ed,” touching on many laws and
regulations which pertain to
governing the township. She an
swered several questions concern
ing the Building By-Law which will
take effect on April 1 and handed
out several booklets containing
Former Belgrave minister's wife dies
KATHERINE KRUG
Katherine Krug (nee Ham
mond) passed away in Waterloo
March 18. 1987.
Born in Sackville, New Bruns
wick 1907, she was the daughter of
Canadian Painter John Hammond,
and was herself a portrait painter.
She was predeceased by her
husband Rev. Charles A. Krug
who was the minister of Knox
United Church, Belgrave from
1955 until the end of 1959.
She is survived by several

hold euchre
tournament
Auburn Lions Club held another
successful euchre tournament
Saturday afternoon at Auburn
Community Hall.
The winning team for the
afternoon, taking home top prize of
$50 was Allan Shaddick and Glen
Carter. Randy Kerr and Carman
Brindley took second prize of $40
while Wayne Carter and Brad
Johnston won the third prize of
$30.
Proceeds from the tournament
go to the fund to install a lift for the
handicapped at the Blyth and
District Community Centre.
