entertainment scene for the spring
on April 5 when “Pump Boys and
Dinettes” comes to Blyth Memor
ial Hall at 2 p.m.
Winner of four Dora Awards

1982 Best Musical Tony Award
Nominee, “Pump Boys and Din
ettes” is a 90-minute musical
journey through the daily lives and
loves of the two Cupp sisters,
proprietors of the Double Cupp
Diner and the four pump boys who
work at the gas station in Frog
Level, South Carolina. Using
musical styles ranging from coun
try to rock to gospel and blues,
“Pump Boys and Dinettes” is a
down-home, foot-stompin’, hand
clappin’ good time that leaves the
audience on its feet shouting for
more.” (Ellis Widner, The Tulsa
Tribune) The Toronto Sun recom
mends this musical “to the
proverbial whole family and to
absolutely anybody who goes out
for a good time...”.
Directed by Patrick Rose,
“Pump Boys and Dinettes” stars
Jamie Alcorn, Doug Balfour, Jodie
Friesen, Randy Kempf, Robert
Maciag and Janet MacEwen. This
is a new production utilizing the
original Charlottetown Festival
cast and some elements of the
Variety Theatre (Toronto) produc
tion, including the Dora Award
winning lighting and set designs.
