This was a full bonspiel with 80 curlers participating. Neil McGavin presented the McGavinFarm Equipment Trophy to the first place winners of the 10 a.m. draw. They were Ross Veitch, Faye Ribey, Howard Hackwell and Bev Stevenson with 49.25 points. Other prizes were presented to: second, 47 points, Orval Bauer, Elaine Wicke, George Wicke, Ruth Bauer; third, 33.25 points, Ernie Lewington, Annette Lewington, George Zwep, Jane Klumper; Bulls beat Exeter to lead series 1-0 Continued from page 19 period with Brussels holding a 2-0 lead at the end of the second period. The third period proved to be the same fast skating end-to-end hockey that the first two periods had been. The third goal came at 8:03 when Rob Cardiff scored unassisted as the Exeter goalie made the save but an Exeter defencemancamein to help and went sliding into the net taking the puck with him. Brussels claimed the 3-0 victory with Jeff McGavin getting the Exeter shut-out and goalie Pat Chambers had claimed the victory against Mitchell. The equality of play was shown in shots on net as Brussels had 40 and Exeter 34. The second game will be played in Exeter on Wednesday night at 8:30 with game three back in Brussels on Friday night at 8:30. The fourth game will be played in Exeter Sunday night at 7:30 p.m. On Wednesday night the home game $50 lottery draw was won by Delores Wheeler with the $100 a month February draw being won by Joe and Lin Steffler. The 50-50 Brussels Midgets win series The Peewee, Bantam and Mid­ get teams are currently involved in group championship playoffs. The Peewee teams played Dray­ ton lastTue sd ay night and were defeated by the visitors 6-2. They will be returning to Drayton on Wednesday night (tonight) for the second game of the series. The Bantam team had a bye the first round and will be playing the winner of the Drayton-Palmerston series. The midget team defeated the Howick squad this past week. They won 6-1 at home on Tuesday night and 4-2 in Howick on Friday night. They will now play the winner of the Ayton-Lucknow series.
