The. winners are [front, from left]: Mark Livermore, 1st; Kelly Bosman, 2nd; and Jodee Medd and Christy Scott, tied for 3rd. Jodee is a student at the Blyth school; the others attend Hullett Central. Mark now goes on to compete in the Zone Finals in Clinton on March 7. Phone 523-4250 Happy Gang meets •1 Shuffleboard winners Shuffleboard was held on Febru­ ary 25. The winners were Bob Thompson and Les Reid. The next games will be on March 4. Hullett Happenings Speakers winners BY CATHY NESBITT Each spring at Hullett Central School, students from the grades four to eight do speeches. These last between the three - five minutes. Three or four pupils are then picked to represent their class on the stage in the auditorium. This time the judges were Mrs. Kane, Mrs. Penn and Mr. Shuttle­ worth. On behalf of the school, the students would like to thank and give their gratitude to these people. The winners in the junior People around Londesboro Beth, Melvin and Barbara Knox went to Toronto on Saturday, February 28 and attended the 60th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Steve White. Our congratula­ tions are offered. David Constantine returned to his home in Calgary on Sunday after spending the past two weeks with the Sottiaux family. Jean Vodden and Dora Shob­ brook visited on Thursday with friends, Jack and Edna Burchill, RR 2, Mitchell. The W.I. Citizen and World Affairs meeting will be held on March 11 at 8 p.m. Roll call will be “A trouble spot in the world and how it concerns us.” W.I. Card Party will be held this Friday, March 6 at 8 p.m. in the hall. division were Mark Livermore who placed first, Christy Scott, placing second; and Kelly Bosman, third. From the senior division, Brent Howatt was chosen first, Shane Taylor, second; and Julia de Jong, third. On Wednesday, February 25 the school’s winners took a bus to the Blyth school. In the junior competition Hullett did extremely well, taking the top three places. Mark Livermore was the best, Kelly Bosman, second; and Christy Scott, third, tied with Jodee Medd. In the senior division speeches, Shane Taylor was first, and Brent Howatt tied for second with Kelly Cook. All participants tried their hardest and represented both of their schools well. President Audrey Thompson welcomed all and read a poem, “Valentine”. The roll call was answered by 25 present. The minutes of the last meeting were read by Secretary Margaret Good. Zone 8 Seniors will meet in Dashwood on April 7. Clara Riley reported on the bus trip to Kitchener on April 8 at 8 p. m. to see the Irish Rovers. The cost will be $31 and if you are going let Clara know by March 25. The treasurer’s report was given by Hazel Reid. It was moved to donate $25 to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. A money making idea was pay as you pull and nominate someone for citizen of month award. More suggestions are wanted tor the program. A get-well card was sent to Jake McDougall. Audrey gave the reading * ‘ Being a Senior Citizen, How good we have it.” Some cards were played with results as follows: ladies’ high, Mabel McAdam; lone hands, Isabel Airdrie; low, Dora Shob­ brook; men’s lone hands, Mary Dale (playing as a man); high, Bob Thompson; low, George Smith. A draw donated by Clare Vincent was won by Kay Konarski. Lunch was served by Jean Scott and Kay Konarski. Happy Birth­ day was sung and birthday cake was served for January and February birthdays for Vietta Hoggarth, Hazel Reid, Verna Glazier, Esther Moffatt, Jean Scott, Kay Konarski and Reg. Lawson. Greeting was Bob Trick and the ushers were Teresa Knox, Vicki Lou Riley, Shannon Duizer and Christine Potter. The organist Gail Lear was assisted by Sara Lyons and Melan­ ie Knox and the choir director was Marsha Szusz. The call to worship and an­ nouncements were given. The World Day of Prayer service will be on Friday, March 6 at 8 p.m. Next Sunday, March 8 the annual congregational skating party will be held in Clinton at 3 p.m. Everyone may return to the church for refreshments and prizes. Bring your family and friends. Next Sunday there will be a hymn sing at 10:50 a.m. prior to the church service. At the children’s Time, Mr. Ferguson spoke to them to ‘ ‘Honor your father and mother”. Junior teachers were Laura Scott and Crystal Whyte. The sermon by Mr. Ferguson was “In everything give thanks.” He told of personal sickness and of Job’s sickness when God healed. Reading scriptures pertaining to the glory of God shall be thy reward. Londesboro 4-H club meets BY KIM MAYBERRY On Monday, February 23, the 4-H Club’s third meeting was held at Sandra Mayberry’s. The meet­ ing was opened with the 4-H pledge. Business was discussed and then they split into three groups. One group was headed by the youth leader. Lori Bromley dis­ cussed the importance of respect­ ing others’ ideas. The other two groups did an activity called “Build it”. The idea was to give each group an opportunity to build something with a limited amount of resources. They rotated and all the members had a lot of fun.
