Phone 887-9487 Ann Procter graduates Mr. and Mrs. Keith Dunbar of Stratford called on his mother Mrs. Joe Dunbar on Saturday evening. Sympathy is extended to the sisters and brothers of Mrs. Carman (Ferrol) Farrier of Long Branch, who passed away Satur­ day morning, February 7 in Toronto Hospital after a lengthy illness. Anne Procter, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ross Procter of RR 5, Brussels graduated from the Uni­ versity of Guelph on Friday, February 6. She received her associated diploma in Agriculture business. Friends and neighbours of this community extend sympathy to Mr. and Mrs. Jim Wharton and Mr. and Mrs. Tom Wharton in the loss of a father and brother Mr. Hugh Wharton of Blyth. The Agriculture meeting of the Belgrave Women’s Institute will beheldTuesday, February 17at 12 o’clock sharp in the W.I. Hall, Belgrave. The guest speaker will be Mr. Norman Alexander of Londesboro who will give a slide presentation on Water and Soil Management and how it relates to Philippines studied The Evening Unit of Knox United Church, Belgrave, held their meeting at the home of Mrs. Ross Anderson February 3 with 20 members in attendance. The leader, Mrs. Robert Grasby, opened the meeting with a ‘ ‘Thought for the Day ’ ’. The theme of the worship service was “Using Our Talents,’’ given by Mrs. Les Shaw, Mrs. William Coultes, Mrs. Les Vincent and Mrs. Lome Campbell. The hymns, “Stand Up, Stand Up for Jesus’’ and “Work for the Night is Coming’’ were sung and the scripture was from Matthew 25. The worship service closed with a poem, “Recipe for Happiness.’’ The program on the Philippines was presented by Mrs. Laura Johnston, Mrs. Ross Anderson, Mrs. Dorothy Logan and Mrs. George Johnston. pollution. There will be a pot luck dinner and everyone in the com- munityis invited. This speaker should be of special interest to the farmers in the area so don’t miss this opportunity to hear him. Mrs. Bert Johnston is high lady Nine tables were in play at the weekly euchre which was held in the W.I. Hall, Belgrave, February 4. Cold temperatures were wel­ comed by the people of Belgrave and surrounding community when the annual Family Night of skating was held at the arena on January 31. Over 200 people enjoyed an evening of exercise and fun. Many hot dogs were consumed as well as several cups of hot chocolate. Everyone had a good time at this event which was organized by the Belgrave Community Centre Board. Winners were: high lady, Mrs. Bert Johnston; second high lady, Mrs. Lewis Stonehouse; low lady, Mrs. Garner Nicholson; high man, Ross Taylor; second high man, Mrs. Mabel Wheeler, (playing as a man); low man, Gordon Walker; first lucky draw, Mrs. Olive Bolt; second lucky draw, Leslie Vincent. Mrs. Scott opened with the Call to Worship and read the hymn, “Love devine all Love Excelling." Scripture from Saint John, chapter 4 was read by Mrs. Ivy Cloakey. Meditation on “Love" was read by Mrs. Alice Nicholson. Mrs. Lottie Scott led in prayer. The roll call was answered with a verse on Love. Mrs. Robena McBurney read the minutesofthe last meeting and reported 45 sick and shut-in visits had been made. Mrs. Cloakey gave the financial report and the collection was received and dedi­ cated. The topic was taken by Mrs. Margaret Dunbar and was entitled “Encounters with Chinese Chris­ tians." The poem “Kind words" was read by Mrs. Hazel Dalrym­ ple. Mrs. Margaret Siertsema read “The World is Mine’’ and “I'm Fine, Thank You". Mrs. Nicholson read “God’s Love’ ’ and “Lamp Light’ ’ and gave a report on the annual meeting. Mrs. Ivy Cloakey will be in charge of the next meeting. The meeting closed with prayer and lunch was served by the hostess.
