Phone 523-4250 Londesboro United buys property A United Church congregational meeting was held January 27 with a poi luck dessert and coffee at 8 p.m. followed by the annual meeting. Rev. Snihuropened with prayer. Gordon Shobbrook was elected as chair person and Brenda Radford as secretary for the 1987 congrega­ tion al meeting. The adoption of agenda was passed and allowed adherents to vote. Brenda read the minutes of 1986 which were accepted. The reports of committee and groups were accepted as written. The session re-elected Len Archambault, Jim Jamieson, Jack Snell and Caroline Thompson. The youth members of session are Bryan Whyte and Greg Brunckard. The committee of Steward U.C.W. representative is Helen Lee; Treasurer, Jean Fox; secretary, Caron Snihur. The church and manse trustees will be combined. The congregational Life and Work Board has the power to elect, Huron Presbyterian dele­ gate Norman Alexander, Rev. Snihur, Ruth Shaddick, Margaret Anderson. Auditorsare Elwood Mitchell, Trudy Pollard and Harry Lear. In memoriam member is Joseph Shaddick; Baptisms, Jus­ tin Lyon, Cara Armstrong, Dawn Dolmage, Krystal Albrecht, Bri- anne Albrecht, and Matthew Howard. The Statistical Report shows the number of households is 165; number of resident members, 329; number of non-resident members, 140; total, 469. Members removed by death totals 1; removed by transfer, 3; received by member­ ship, 2. It was approved from the Presbytery to purchase the Hark’s property west of the church. There was a motion to canvass each home for a donation to the property fund. The treasurer’s report was given by Jean Fox. It was moved to have February 27-28 for volunteers to assist with church house cleaning. The 1987 budget $58,800 was accepted. Thanks to U.C.W. for a donation of $2,500; to Jean Fox treasurer, Garnet and Margaret Wright and Kim, secretary; to Gail Lear in training Junior organists Deanna Lyon and Sara Lyons; to Barbara Bosman and Marsha Szusz. Special thanks to Dave and Caron for their leadership and their enthusiasm. Th is was moved by Gordon Shobbrook and seconded by Norman Alexander. The meeting closed with hymn, “Reach out toothers’ ’ with Gail Lear atthe piano. Rev. Snihur gave the closing prayer. Londesboro Church news The Happy Gang Seniors meet- ingwasheldJanuary28at 1:30 p.m. in the hall. President Audrey Thompson welcomed all. O Canada was sung. The reading, “Acleanyear, awhite year” was given by Audrey, wishing each a healthy and happy year. The roll call was answered with 28 present. The minutes of the October and November meeting were read by Estella Adams. There will be a moon walk again this year onM ay 22-31.The treasurer’s report was given. There was a collection for Ron Nesbitt at the November meeting of $219.00 The November balance was $29.43. A letter was received from Pete Locals attend Presbyteria! Huron Perth U.C.W. Presbyter- ial was held Monday, January 26, in Mitchell. Voting delegates from here were Joan Whyte, Brenda Radford and Helen Lee. W.I. card party will be held Friday, February 6 at 8 p.m. in the hall. Everyone is welcome. Ladies bring lunch. The W.I. February 12 meeting Tweedsmuirworkshopistobe held at the home of Helen Lawson to work on Tweedsmuir books. Roll call will be an instance of horse and buggy days. Ross and Muriel Millson of Woodstock visited with her moth­ er, Dora Shobbrook on Saturday. Hugh Millar and Betty, Brian, Craig, Scott, Brenda and Allan Young attended the baptism of their grandson, Bradley Stewart, son of Randy and Linda Millar. Rounderee to keep a record of our club. Zone 8 Seniors will meet at Dashwood April 7, hosted by Dashwood and Grand Bend. Mae Smith sent thanks for a card sent to her when she was sick. February roll call is a discussion for future programs. Audrey gave the read­ ing, “The last word’’, and a recipe for a happy new year. The meeting closed and some cards were played. The winners were ladies’ high. Mary Dale; lone hands, Margaret Taylor; low, Isabel Scanlon; men’s high, Kay Konarski (playing as a man); lone hands, Ted Fothergill; low, George Smith. A gift donated by Clare Vincent was won by Isabel Scan­ lon. Lunch was served by the lunch committee, Beryl Reid and Dora Shobbrook. Senior youth group will go bowling Friday at 7 p.m. Teen confirmation classes begin Saturday, February 7 at 11 a.m. Next Sunday will be Com­ munion Sunday with a hymn sing at 10:50. Quebec Fellowship will be on February 11 at 6:30 p.m. John Cartwright was assistant PRT for this area. Crysta Whyte attended Toe Alpha Conference in Toronto and gave her report. At the children’s time “If you’re Happy in the Lord” was discussed. Junior teachers were Sandy and Julie Merner. The anthem was 4-H club begins The first meeting of the 4-H club Surviving with Style’ ’ will be held in Londesboro on Monday, Febru­ ary 9 at 7 p.m. Allboysandgirls wishing tojoin must be 12years old before January 1, 1987.
