Phone 887-6645 Man honoured on birthday Knox church elects officers Mrs. Wm. Milne, Mitchell, conducted the service in Knox Presbyterian Church on Sunday, Jan. 25. The family of Jack Conley had a dinner at the Golden Lantern, Brussels on Jan. 24 in honor of his birthday. It was planned by Wilma Rathwell and attending were Margaret and Harvey Clarke and Young people meet On Thursday, January 29 the CKPY had a meeting at Mr. and Mrs. Larry Smith. The meeting got started with a prayer by the president Wayne Evans. They discussed the dance that is taking place on April 25. The young people played a game called, “Fish”. After the game a prayer was said by Vice President Murray Smith and lunch was served. Paul, Doug and Nancy Conley and family. Doug Rathwell was curling in Wallaceburg and was unable to attend. Garnet Starr, Chatham, and his son Steven, Owen Sound visited Don and Mrs. Cotton on the weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Conley had the pleasure of celebrating the Chinese New Year’s Eve as guests of Margaret and Tien Sung Wong on Wednesday evening, January 28. They enjoyed the delicious Chinese dinner. Mrs. Earl Dunn, Listowel, visit­ ed with former Cranbrook neigh­ bours on January 29. Jack and Jean Conley are proud great-grandparents of their fourth great-grandchild, Jeremy Douglas Rathwell who was born Jan. 25. He is the son of Gerald and Patti Rathwell and grandson of Doug and Wilma Rathwell and Earl and Wilma Hicks. The annual congregational meting of Knox Church was held on January 27 in the church base­ ment, beginning with a pot luck dinner at 12 noon. The interim moderator, Rev. Byron Nevin, Atwood, opened the meeting with a scripture reading and prayer. Rev. Nevin was chairmanforthe meeting and Mrs. Stuart Stevenson the secretary. 9 tables at card party Nine tables played at the Forester’s card party on Friday evening. Winners were: high, Isabelle Bremner, John Subject; low, Isa­ bel Craig, Lloyd Smith; lone hands, Jean Conley, Adrian Versteop; birthday, Lourdes Genosa; wedd­ ing anniversary, Lloyd and Beryl Smith; tallies, Harry Jacklin, Ken Crawford, Eleanor Stevenson, Helen Alexander and Kathy Bridge. There will not be a euchre February 6 when the Forester ’ s are holding a family dance with Tiffin’s Orchestra. The minutes were read and the reports of the different groups discussed. The printed reports had been given out earlier so the reports were adopted as printed. The board of managers is as follows: Mrs. Leslie Knight, Joe Smith, Jack Conley, Patsy Dickin­ son, Lloyd Smith, Stewart Steiss, Ethel Compiled by Mrs. Margaret McMahon. The winners were high lady, Thelma Keffer; high man, Cecil Raynard; low lady, Donna Moore; low man, Charlie Harrison; most lone hands, Harold Metcalfe. Birthday closest to Robbie Burns day was Dorothy Cox. At the lucky table, Stan Alexander, Cecil Ray­ nard, Dorothy Hamilton, and Anne Larry Smith, Wilfred Strickler and Jack Knight. Trustees are: John A. Perrie and Leslie Knight. Auditor is Gary Morrison; Ushers, Doug Conley, Stephen Steiss, Heather Perrie; assistants, Steve, Jeff and Rick Knight; organist, Mrs. Ste­ wart Steiss; secretary-treasurer, Mrs. Stuart Stevenson. Card draws were won by Alan Kennedy, Helen Alexander, Becky Rupple, Stan Alexander, Dorothy Dilworth, Marjorie Metcalfe, Alice Stevens, Elgin Adams, Laura Strickler, Brenda Perrie, Olive Garton and Violet Smith. The next euchre will be February 9.
