Demand good at higher prices The market at Brussels Stock- yards on Friday met a good demand at higher prices on both steers and heifers with some choice cattle carrying heavy tag being discounted. Cowssoldatstrong prices with pigs steady to higher. There were 751 cattle and 754 pigs on offer. Choice steers sold from $83.50 to $87 with sales to $89.75 per hundredweight. Good steers were $80 to $83.50. A steer consigned by Calvin Semple of RR 1, Ethel weighing 1270lbs. sold for $89.75 with his lot of four steers averaging 1245 lbs. selling for $87.15. Eleven steers consigned by Karel Michiels of RR 1, Sebringville averaging 1271 lbs. sold for $86.80 with his offering of 45 steers averaging 1247 lbs. selling for an overall price of $85.96 with sales to $88. Seven steers consigned by Neil Edgar of RR 3, Wingham averaging 1130 lbs. sold for $85.50. Thirteen steers consigned by Hodgins Bros, of RR 8, Parkhili averaging 1368 lbs. sold for an overall price of $85.26. Eleven steers consigned by Doug Wagg of RR 5, Mitchell averaging 1223 lbs. sold for an overall price of $85.05. Eight steers consigned by Bill Elston of RR 5, Brussels averaging 1236 lbs. sold for $84.85. Forty-five steers consigned by Murray Forbes of RR 2, Clinton averaging 1254 lbs. sold for an overall price of $84.78. Twenty-seven steers con­ signed by Maple Emblem Farms of RR 1. Dungannon averaging 1239 lbs. sold for an overall price of $84.77 with sales to$86.60. Choice exotic heifers sold from $83 to $86.50 with sales to $89.25. Choice white-faced heifers were $79 to $83. A heifer consigned by Murray Mulvey of RR 1, Clifford weighing 1170 lbs. sold for $89.25 with his offering of 36 heifers averaging 1124 lbs. selling for an overall price of $86.09. Three heifers consigned by Dennis Bross of RR 1, Listowel averaging 1017 lbs. sold for an overall price of $86.57 with a sale at $88. Seven heifers consigned by Jack and Wayne Tebbett of RR 2, Clinton averaging 1177 lbs. sold for $86.60 with their offering of 41 heifers averaging 1137 lbs. selling for an overall price of $85.29. Eighteen heifers consigned by Cecil and Karl Raszmann of RR 1, Monkton averaging 1186 lbs. sold for an overall price of $84.83 with a sale at$89.25. Two hereford heifers consigned by Bill Pullen of Proton Station averaging 955 lbs. sold for $82.55. Twelve hereford heifers con­ signed by Elmer Jeffray of RR 1, Clifford averaging 1041 lbs. sold for $82.40. Nine hereford heifers consigned by Bill Burke of Atwood averaging 863 lbs. sold for an overall price of $81.75. Choice cows sold from $59 to $63 with a sale to $77. Good cows were $55 to $59. Canners and cutters were $50 to $55. A Charlois cow consigned by Mervin Smith of RR 1, Walton weighing 1430 lbs. sold for $77. All weights of pigs sold actively.
