Lois Van Vliet, co-ordinator of
the Heart Fund Campaign for
Blyth says that even though
research has made tremendous
progress over the years and vastly
reduced the incidence of heart
disease and stroke, there is still a
lot of work to do since heart disease

According to a reporter calling
himselfBobBassof “The North
Bay Post”, those “loco boys” did
make it north for their fishing
expedition recently, despite closed
highways and white-out condi
tions. Mr. Bass goes on to say:
“After arriving Thursday night,
the boys bunked down early, and
woke early in the morning keen to
get to the fish huts on Lake
Nipissing. Friday did prove to be
an excellent day for fishing, as each
of the nine fishermen caught his
limit. That night the boys had a
hearty fish-fry. After supper the
boys relaxed to some local enter
tainment. Darryl played a fine tune
on his fiddle, and his brother
Darryl played the spoons. Every
one joined in a lively sing-song.
“On Saturday, the fish were a
little smarter than the anglers,
with the catch somewhat less. The
surprise catch of the day was by one
of the veteran fishermen. As the

In co-ordinating the canvassing
of the village of Blyth during the
month of February, Mrs. Van Vliet
has enlisted the help of the
following canvassers: Linda Ste

Mary Lou Stewart, Sheron Stadel-

Mary Holland and Susan Howson.
cunning angler silently watched
his tip-up, it suddenly bobbed. He
sprang into action, pulling his line
up with amazing speed, only to find
a bottle on the end of his line.
Asking the local fishing guide
about the incident, he figured the
bottle drifted up the lake from the
Molson plant in Barrie. The boys
fishing guide for the weekend was
Mike Pike, a wiley expert from the
area. On Sunday, the boys sat
around the breakfast table, discus
sing the weekend and unanimously
decided to book the cabins for next
year.
